Default Close Encounter Fans! (large pic files)

Trip to Devil's Tower- went hiking around the national park - for those that don't know, it was used in filming Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Can you spot the crazy person?

They only had a few shirts and 1 alien crossing metal sign. Got my son one.

Awesome photos! That's one place I've always wanted to visit. One of these days we'll plan a trip west and hit all of the hot spots.

For the life of me, I can't spot the crazy person. How about a hint?

For those who went there, what is actually behind that steep mountain ? I mean is there a flat land with some kind of military base like the movie showed ? other buildings, other mountains ???

I visited with my family in 1979, but my Dad didn't want to stay long. I didn't even get to go on any of the trails.

I walked around it, it's actually just a magma formation millions of years old. Nothing really around it, just a national park. It's pretty much all by itself out there.

Mt Rushmore is another great park to visit. Along with Crazy Horse.

The tower trail is pretty cool, it's not a bad hike, only 1.5 miles. There's other longer trails that are fun too. The tower trail is where I got the close up pics.

I didn't. I just completely walked around the whole Tower.
(Didn't find any landing platform. LOL.)
