You can find the manual online via the following link:

http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/d...600/XAA&mode=C

You also need a USB Flash memory stick in order to use BD-Live.

I don't think a "best usb" matters...but some SHOULD be better than others (Kingston, Sandisk)...they are cheap in general...about 10$ for a 2 gig...and yes, walmart has them even (if i remember right) in 3 packs....

Check your manual...but if it is to expand the players memory, should go into a USB port on the player...no???

You should be all set. The BDP-S550 came with a Sony USM1GH Flash Memory stick which needs to be inserted into the USB port on the back of the player. You also need to connect one end of the ethernet cable to the LAN port on the back of the player and the other end to the internet. Those are the two requirements in order to use BD-Live.

EDIT: The flash memory card from Sony is a minaturized USB memory stick and should look like this:

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...52921665540675

EDIT: Your USM1GH is your memory stick. You don't need to purchase another memory stick.

Sony's USB port, marked EXT, is a recessed port and therefore all USB devices may not fit properly. You need to insert the supplied USM1GH flash memory into this port. However, any one of the following Sony devices should work:

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...tegoryId=27891

Once you have one of these devices you can insert it into the back of the player's EXT port and can be found next to the fan. Here's a picture of the back for reference:

Also, check page 24 of your manual. If you need a copy of the manual it can be found here:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/BDPS550_US.pdf

Is your router setup to assign IP addresses via DHCP? If so, then you can use DHCP on the player. If DHCP is setup properly you should see the address fields auto populate with the correct info and the player should be able to confirm an internet connection.

Which router do you have?

You shouldn't have to worry about the proxy settings unless your internet service provider's proxy server requires a specific setting.

Try setting the "Proxy Settings" to "Off" and then run the "Network Diagnostic" feature. If your settings are correct the player should give you a message stating so.

Most of the time you'd use it w/o proxy. Looks like this was the correct setting.

Connect it to the router, not the modem.

The router should be connected to the modem and the PC and BD player should be connected to the router. e.g.

Internet -> Modem -> Router -> PC and BD player

How many ports are on the back of the router and what is the model number of the router (can you provide a link)? If I can see the specific router you have it will help expediate the process. e.g. D-Link DIR-825 has 5 total ethernet ports with 1 internet port and 4 LAN ports and looks like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...58&Tpk=dir-825.

You should connect the ethernet port on the modem to the internet port on the router. Then the computer and BD player should be connected to the LAN ports on the router.

Not a problem, we'll get this working.
