I absolutely see the movie as a comment on this subject! I think the way this was handled is a complete disgrace!

So consequently, I only appreciate the "war is hell" type film, because anything else is just bullshit! And I don't know why exactly, but I'm a sucker for those movies...
So, I guess it'll be fine!
I don't mind something like Delta Force because everyone knows to not take it seriously. Even as a kid I didn't take it seriously.

If a movie seriously tries to promote war as a positive thing I'm not not overly fond of those.

The likes of Delta Force or eighties Rambo flicks (or Commando) I myself categorize as action flicks, which I don't take seriously, either, but to this day have a real blast with. There are older, particularly WWII movies, however, which seem to shed a positive light on war, which I find problematic! Take "The Longest Day", for instance: the paratroopers sitting in their plane right before their jump wisecracking and joking (one fantasizing about meeting a french girl!). That sort of depiction doesn't do justice to what these men went through at all!

Heard this was a great watch in a home theater but no 4K? It's a hard pass from me until that happens. Ridiculous.

Watched the bluray last night: excellent movie, highly recommended to war movie buffs, who like somewhat believable movies. There is still some artistic license, but I will not elaborate, since that criticism could be said for 99% of movies depicting combat! It's a great movie, up there with "The Outpost" in regards to refrain from showing the soldiers as "HEROES" (Lone Surivvor, anyone?). And as was mentioned before, it certainly is a comment (or even criticsm?) on the way ISAF personnel was rushed out of Afghanistan, leaving so many Afghans helping them to their destiny under Taliban rule...
Do I wish for a 4K of this movie? Absolutely!
But: the bluray looks pretty sweet and will (have to) do for now. But once a good 4K arrives...

This movie is absolutely a banger and I’ll buy the Blu Ray and the 4K whenever that comes out.

'I rented this and loved it, wish I would have seen it in the theater when I had the chance. Will definitely pickup the disc at some point, I too am crossing my fingers for a UHD release.

That is incorrect.

Someone sitting at the standard viewing distance of 9 ft with 20/20 would need a 120 inch screen to detect the difference between 4K and 1080P. But you can sit closer. Everything doubles each time though. 8K at 9 ft 240 inch screen to see an upgrade from 4K etc... so you can see where it becomes implausible to go any higher.

I'll probably own a 120 once it become affordable. But 240 is stupid, and so is 8K. 4K is the last significant jump.

A guy broke everything down. But I need to find the article.

Ok can we take a poll to see if enough people bought the bluray so they can go ahead and release the 4k now?

No need to take poll—this site already shows it’s been reported owned in 412 reader collections. INFINITY POOL’s BD has 494, so we may be getting close!

I mirror the bulk of the above sentiments....Excellent flick that totally had my number right from the go, and I certainly look forward to an eventual 4k uhd release.

You need to do a bit of research and education before making statements like this… You are completely wrong and I’m embarrassed for you.

I just finished watching this on Prime and thought it was excellent. And I absolutely loved the score. Jake Gyllenhaal is generally an actor I don't put much stock in, but I'll be goddamned if I haven't really enjoyed him in the last few movies I've seen him in. GREAT flick.

Yes, the score is phenomenal! Particularly the part when
[Show spoiler]Ahmed is pushing John up that hill
on a cart and almost not making it. That scene truly highlights Ahmed's resilience and determination to make it back to base WITH John, no matter what.
Combined with the underlying score that scene is simply beautiful!

My local library always has DVDs and BDs for sale, including some recently-released stuff (I'm assuming they buy more copies of newer stuff and then let some of those copies go as time passes and popularity/interest wanes?), so I was able to grab a copy of this for $1 the other day. I'd already watched it so knew it was good, so was happy to add it to my physical collection for such a low price.

This movie was excellent. While I didn't get it for $1 (heck of a find for you!), I did get it from Gruv via ebay for $12.74 after the 15% off from buying two blu-rays. It's still available at that price too. (Mine came with a slip, for those who care.) I'll take that deal, although I'd have loved a 4K and will sell the blu and upgrade if that day comes.

Yesterday I saw the movie on Amazon prime, magnificent! On the platform it is in 4K and except for a certain compression, which is little noticeable as it is a digitally filmed film, the image quality is very good. How will it be compared to the physical version that is on bluray? Is the image quality better? And how is the audio in comparison?
