Arrow Sacha Baron Cohen Under Threat From Terrorists

I saw this about a week or so ago and now it's popped up again. I thought I'd post it to see what you guys think of the whole thing. Could it be publicity for the movie or is it true?

Quote:
A few weeks ago Sacha Baron Cohen appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, and when asked about the scene in Bruno in which he interviews and mocks an actual terrorist he rather wisely indicated that he hoped they’d never see it. Well they have and he’s in trouble. Since they’re terrorists, we’re not just talking lawsuits here. It may be more serious than that.

The Times Online says a group called the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, a coalition of Palestinian militias in the West Bank, have said they’re “very upset” over what they saw in Bruno and they’ve issued this statement: “We reserve the right to respond in the way we find suitable against this man, the movie was part of a conspiracy against the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.”

Sounds ominous, doesn’t it? It becomes even more ominous when you look up who these guys are. They’re the real deal, alleged to be responsible for all kinds of suicide bombings and murders. They’re on the list of terrorist organizations kept by both the United States and the European Union. When they say they will respond in the way they find suitable, in the past it seems that what has been most suitable to them is for someone to end up dead.

The Bruno scene in question is actually relatively brief. It’s obvious that Cohen wasn’t comfortable there and to some extent, he even seemed to be attempting to tone Bruno’s flamboyant ways down. Still he did say, “your king Osama looks like a kind of dirty wizard or homeless Santa.” That probably didn’t go over well.

Interestingly Mr Abu Aita, the man actually interviewed by Bruno, says he’s no longer involved with al-Aqsa. Instead of joining in their veiled threat he’s going the other route and taking legal action. Maybe his old terrorist buddies didn’t get the memo.

Word is that Cohen has upped his security and hopefully that will be enough. It’s worth noting though that he lives in London which has, in recent years, been more of a terrorist hotbed than the United States. Sacha, now might be a good time to go Hollywood and move to LA.

I doubt this is real...who knows though. The Internet isn't the only place people take things a little too seriously.

No you wouldn't, I'd say at this point almost everyone who wanted to see this movie has already gone to it.

The last few years!!! London and the UK have had terrorism since the early 80's. It's just more televised now. However back on track......Quite frankly Sacha brings it all on himself and has to live with the consequences. But I do highly doubt this is really.

Eminem pissed off Osama after the video for "Without Me" and he's still around.

Just saying.

$10 says his new alter ego will be some sort of special forces character.

From Borat, to Bruno, to Beefcake.

Bruno being hunted down by terrorists is just classic lol. It's say it's a publicity stunt. Much like the whole Eminem thing.

I'm not sure what to think of this. It would not surprise me that he would upset terrorists and it also does not make sense to do a publicity stunt about a month after the movie is out. Hopefully it is a stunt because London is definitely a hotbed for terrorism so if it is true he should be very careful.

You mean terrorists don't have a sense of humor? Hmmm.

On the other hand, this means some terrorists watched Bruno. Ha!

Terrorists watch everything, specialy muslim or any other religious extremist group that are against, fun, good time, joie de vivre and personal liberties. How else will they know who to hate for the coming week and fill their empty pathetic life with some sort of meaning?

Yes, the sanctimonious (of any religion) do love to tell us what is right and wrong and otherwise exercise control of our behavior. Reminds me of the reverend in Porky's II who says he is thoroughly disgusted with the pornographic film in question, after a close inspection of every frame--twice.
