Are you doing any remodeling to the current area? If, so, what are you planning?

What kind of light control do you have in the room? What size Tv are you considering? What are the dimensions of the room?

Are you looking at towers? A 2.0 system? A 2.1 system? A 5.1 system? A 7.1 system?

What equipment do you have?

What equipment do you plan on keeping?

What equipment do you want/need to replace?

Based on what you have, I'd probably get a new set of fronts, center and Sub..... and use four of the speakers you have for the surrounds/rears

Either that or T.V...... I wouldn't spread out the $1,500 too thin by getting an entirely new 7.1

I know many people have issues with them, but $1,500 can get you a 73" Mitsubishi 1080p DLP from costco..... I think they were $1,200 when I was in there last week...... that'd certainly be a big upgrade in size

not positive, but I don't believe rear-projection DLPs are known to have this phenomena..... and if they do, it'd be in rare cases.... I've yet to meet anyone who has experienced it on my DLP front-projection.

You know you can get a 150" display for $1,000 if you're willing to go 1080i

Unfortunately apartment rules wont let me install a projector and running the wires would be a serious issue but the DLP rear pro sounds awsome but reading some things should i go with the led based bulbs or stick with the regulars? Led may be a bit of a power saver to?

I think the LED models are the ones you want to look at..... I've never had a DLP rear projection set though..... I'd look at that section of the forum to see what's out there etc... and what is considered the top 3 or 4 models to consider.

Obviously everyone will say "Get a 60" Kuro" but like you, I'm not ready to plunk down $3k for a 60" display.

You shouldnt have to plunk down $3k . if I had your setup I'd be beyond satisfied $3k would take me over a 2 yrs to save up also and pioneer stopped making tv's. going to check out the dlp's was curious if samsung still makes dlp's i heard those are even better than the mitsu's if not what do you think of possible panny plasma?
