Ironically, with Disney being worth somewhere in the wheelhouse of $600 billion (that's not an exaggeration), they could hire enough competent people to have every single piece of content they have preserved, restored, and available in ten years, without losing any money. However, I don't think that's their goal.

Disney bought Fox for two reasons. One was so that they could get all rights to the first Star Wars movie. The Lucasfilm deal back in 2012 said that Fox would keep the prequels, ESB, and ROTJ until 2020, and they would keep ANH forever. Buying Fox outright made those stipulations moot.

The second reason Disney bought Fox was to take a competitor out of the game, which really shouldn't have been okayed. Disney controlled a plurality of Hollywood before the Fox deal (roughly 40%), and a majority of Hollywood after the deal (60%). The fish became bigger and the pond became smaller. Also, considering Fox had arguably the most open vault of any studio (just asking for a print would get you a print), the fact that Disney subsequently vaulted the vast majority of Fox's catalog* proves that they wanted people to have as few non-Disney options as possible. Sadly it seems to have worked.

*The one title they said would always be available was The Rocky Horror Picture Show, because, per one of the Disney executives, "we'll have an angry mob at our door if we do that."

It’s sad that Disney is so evil.

Pretty much. Glad they don't have a solid grip on Point Break and were finally getting a UHD for it.

I would like a Blu-ray for Toys but I just don't see Disney doing anything with it sadly.

Makes me wonder how many Robin Williams movies are not on blu ray.
