Universal will be releasing the Complete Series of Leave it to Beaver on Blu-ray on November 14th! This will be a MOD release like most of the other complete series sets, but the discs will be pressed.

At least another old school show is getting blu ray love....too bad it is not one of the ones on my wish list. But hey the more that gets released and makes money the better the chances of getting the ones I want.

My mom LOVES this show! I got her the Shout! DVD set for Mother's Day last year (the one with the bonus disc because she deserves the best!). Shame she's not a Blu-ray fanatic, she would've love to see this in hi-def.

I really hope this will port over all pre-existing extras. I have the old Universal Seasons 1 and 2 and was thinking about getting the Shout complete DVD set, but now I’m glad I waited. This is one of the finest sitcoms in television history. Still holds up beautifully.

Awesome!!! I have the old Shout! Factory DVD set, but this is a no-brainer upgrade. I used to always watch re-reuns of this as a kid on an almost daily basis.

Hopefully they port over the old extra though...

Great news! I’ll be upgrading my old set with this one. At first I thought it was just another DVD release, lol. I’ll wait for a nice GRUV sale and then use a code to get a decent price.
This is also something I was hoping Warner would have done for their 100th; upgrade some of their old series like Gilligan’s Island and others.

This is a pleasant surprise. I hope Dennis the Menace, Mister Ed and the rest of I Love Lucy will also be released on BD.

Loved it as a kid, but nowadays, not so much. The older Beaver gets the worse the series gets and outside of the later Wally episodes in the late seasons, some of the others are just plain unwatchable. Jerry Mathers loses whatever charm he had as a youngster and his acting skills get flushed down the toilet. Plus he is surrounded by other kids who are just out and out jerks and very unlikable instead of being funny and clever.

I always heard the quality drop was due to the series getting a new sponsor who insisted on putting more morality and sermons into the show, requiring the father to always be in a suit and tie and never dispensing questionable advice as he often does in the early seasons, to great hilarious effect. One late episode when the father catches a break by accidentally discovering something his sons screwed up, he then lords it over them as if he is some all knowing omnipotent super being.

No argument from me about the early seasons being classic and holding up very well, but the series goes on too long and the changes are disastrous. I'm happy it's coming to Blu for those who remember it with such fondness, but I keep hoping for THE FUGITIVE to get a solid upgrade to Blu from Paramount.

Don't bet on it. They made even more scaredy cat edits to Cheers for Blu that were correct on DVD.

Anyway, The Beav gets a Blu release. Nice to see they're digging way back in the vaults. I was a little surprised Shout didn't do this, but honestly, it'll be just as good coming directly from Uni, and cheaper.
