Windows 7 Crossfire problem - Blu-ray Forum

I had decided to take the plung and try the Win7 RTM.
I have one problem that I can see so far, I have a Crossfirre ATI4870 x 2 setup.
When I installed the Control Panel from ATI for the 4800 series, I don't see any options for activating Crossfire for the dual cards. It was there in the WinXP 32 bit I previously had running.
Does anyone have experience with the Crossfire setup is there something I am missing? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated to get these up and running as soon as possible.

Did it work on Vista or the official Win7 Release Candidate?

Never tried Vista or the RC version of 7 with this hardware, I am using the RTM 7600 build, and have only used XP with this hardware.

Well, if you installed from a Technet or MSDN DVD, that is one thing, but if you just downloaded some homebrewed build off a torrent site, then you're flirting with disaster my friend.

Having said that:

1) Are you attempting to install a 32-bit app in a 64-bit environment? (probably a minor issue, since I found the 64-bit Win7 RC able to handle 32-bit stuff consistently well, but it's worth asking).

2) Did you get any errors or any indication that the install failed somehow?

3) Try re-installing by using the Right-click, "Run as Administrator" option on the program you are trying to install.

It is the 32 bit verison of 7.

I received a bit of an issue the first time I tried to install the Control panel, but uninstalled it and reinstalled it without incident.

I will give it a shot a little later I guess and see how it goes. But I would like confirmation that others have a Crossfire setup working under 7. Dont want to waste a ton of time only to find there is an issue with this for one reason or another.

at work i have a system with quad crossfire running fine in win7 RTM, so i think it is safe to assume that it does in fact work.

however seeing as its not going to be on technet or msdn till august 6th i would go back to XP till you can get a non torrented copy.

assuming he got a good copy (which is pretty hard to get a bad copy) its the same as what you'll find on technet or msdn, so i'm not sure why people keep bringing that up

All fixed, I was all set to do some hard work, and it looks like it just needed a reboot. Software didn't request a reboot so I was not thinking to do that.

System rating is 7.4-7.7 except for the HDD a 5.9. Working nicely. For whatever those numbers are worth

See now that is a nice set of numbers. What hard drive do you have in that thing for that score?
For that matter what RAM do you have? I have DDR3 1600 6GB worth. it got the 7.7 score.
I am curous about your whole configuration actually, CPU HDD RAM, my video got the 7.5 as well.

Can you show me a link for those HDD? Who sells them? Although I guess anything in RAID would work nice and fast compared to a single drive correct? I am unfamilliar ith RAID and Overclocking (your CPU). I havent got a clue how to do either.

eesh. thats one expensive computer. why raid 2 ssd's? werent they fast enough alone?

no such thing as "fast enough"

speaking of, i actually plan on pushing my cpu further, i didnt hit a wall at 4.0ghz i just stopped there for now, im gonna see if i can hit 4.5ghz next (ill work in steps up to that of course)

i like the way you think. i've never not overclocked a computer i owned.

are you going to be able to hit 4.5 on air? or is it water cooled

OMG 32GIG for over $400 each, damn. I got 500GIG seagate for $55

I guess I will be sticking to the spinning version of HDD for a while.

Although I have the same processor as you same speed ram just not as much and I have dual 4870 and they received the same score as your single.
