Default Harmony Wireless Extender info. needed!

I am considering getting the Harmony Wireless Extender to go along with my 1000.

For those who use one:

1) Is it worth it if all my equipment is in line-of-sight?

2) Right now, I point my 1000 at the equipment until programming has stopped. My thoughts are I won't have to point any more. Correct?

3) Easy to use? It seems to me all I have to do is program the Extender like I do the 1000, sync the extender to the 1000 and then plug it in to an electrical outlet near my equipment and it works. Correct?

Any thoughts positive or negative?

Thumbs up swilliams

I have an harmony 1000 and extender .I think is worth the money. You can control your equipment any where in your room with out line of sight. the only con is you have to up date your extender every time you up date your remote .That means you have to unhook extender .and reconnect it,which is a pain depending where is located .I had move mine for easy excess. but it .works

Thanks for the info.

From what I have read there are four wires that connect to the extender then they attach to the equipment. I have five pieces.: 2 receivers, player, TV, STB. Do I have to purchase another extender to make it work properly?

You won't need to, no; each wire has 2 IR transmitters. So, you can control up to 8 devices per extender. The only thing you will need to decide is what to do with the TV; I usually recommend leaving the TV to be controlled through IR, since it deals with very few commands if all your video switching is done via receiver. This basically avoids having to tape an IR transmitter to the front of your TV, but this may not bother you as much as it would bother me.

No, it would bother me also.

The TV is off or on. Not a lot of commands. I think it would work for me.

Thanks
