HACKENBUSH" (written for film but unused), Musical outtake "A Message from the Man in the Moon" and Leo is On the Air Radio Promo; Original Theatrical Trailer (HD)

The Marx Brothers skewer medicine and bring home a racetrack winner in the hilarious A Day at the Races. In his favorite role, Groucho is Dr. Hugo Z. Hackenbush – MD, PhD, RFD, MC, PDQ, BYOB and none of the above – dispensing horse pills and quips with equal glee. Chico, Harpo and favorite foil Margaret Dumont join the fun of this thoroughly thoroughbred comedy. Enjoy tootsie-frootsie ice cream, Dumont’s medical exam, Harpo’s pretty-girl pantomime sketch, wallpaper wackiness and wall-to-wall hilarity the Marx way.

To celebrate the announcement of A DAY AT THE RACES, take a look at the Marx Bros. out of character...A rare behind the scenes publicity shot with director Sam Wood, Groucho, Harpo & Chico.

Absolutely over the moon, but surprised, this is finally coming out. Gives me hope for remaining MB titles.

Definitely agree with all those who are hoping for the remaining MB films to make it to blu-ray soon.

For those keeping score, Warner still has:
Room Service (1938)
At the Circus (1939)
Go West (1940)
The Big Store (1941)

Sadly, my copies of all of these came in the The Marx Brothers Collection, itself a victim of bad pressings. All of those discs are failing or failed...

It sounds like you got a later pressing. Interestingly enough, that's exactly what happened with me on another January WAC release - The Prince and the Pauper. I picked up a DVD copy of it at Costco around 2007 or 2008. Since it was in a snapper case, I figured it was old stock, and I never scrutinized the disc when I discovered the Warner rot debacle several years later. I figured the snapper case indicated that the disc pre-dated the rot era by several years. Well, I was wrong as I discovered in more recent years that the disc had rotted. It looks like the disc itself was a later Cinram pressing, but I guess they still had existing stock of the old snapper cases. Sort of weird, but plausible. Anyway, I'm glad to be able to pick up new blu-rays for both The Prince and the Pauper and A Day at the Races.

As for A Day at the Races, I wonder if the blue tint for the Blue Ventian Waters segment will be reinstated. When I first saw the film on TCM in the late 1990s, the blue tint was present, but the 2004 DVD lacked it. I would like to see it reinstated for the blu, but I'll be buying it regardless.

I, too, would like to see the film's tinting restored. I doubt if it will, which means I WON'T be buying it on blu-ray.

The five disc release (2 discs are double sided with a movie on each side):

What's the 7 disc set? I see the TCM Greatest Classic Films Collection set, but that only has four of the seven movies in this set.
