Germany The Night of the Hunter (1955) 4K - Capelight

Announced by Capelight for 2024 as a Mediabook release.

Here's hoping for better audio particularly for this film AND a LSP Medien encode for all of them.

2K Capelight screencaps up at Caps-A-Holic. Obviously, both have encoding issues, but I'd argue the Capelight beats the Criterion. https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1=18897&d2=17211&c=6418

Where do you think does the Capelight have encoding issues?

It’s nothing serious at all, but there do seem to be minor artifacts. Could just be my eyes misleading me though. https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=3&x...&l=0&i=14&go=1

But how will we be able to appreciate the lovely grain structures on FiM encoded releases to the fullest degree!

In all seriousness though, I don't even think the Capelight looks particularly bad at all and I was probably being nitpicky. If anything, I'm even more glad I went with importing the mediabook after seeing how much better the included 2K disc looks compared to the Criterion.

Hello, after seeing the capelight blu ray on capsaholic, the 2k disc seems superior once compared to all the present release on this website, is the german disc in 4k vs the kino 4k, offer à gap on screen, that justify a second 4k dip ?

If you don't want to wait for an eventual 2K standalone of the Capelight, this is where I got the mediabook. Went up by 3€ since (and I'm not sure how conversion rates compare now), but still a good bargain if you ask me. https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/movie/detai.../hnum/11797458

It appears that the grain seems to be slightly better in capelight uhd, this is very subtle but i can see it, to be clear are we all thinking the capelight is better than kino release?

So, what's all this with the framing? Which is right? The aspect ratio is dramatically different to the older versions, and people used to argue the toss that 1.66 is perfect for this movie.

Has anyone uncovered evidence that 1.85 is the actual intended ratio?
