£65 from the WBs shop, for 110 episodes is terrific value in my book.

I was actually expecting it to be higher so more than pleasantly surprised

The WBs sign up discount seems quite hit and miss on pre-orders. Sadly, with B5 it appears to be a miss.

Leaving mine with WBs tho. Could have got it slightly cheaper with HMV, but there’s a good chance of getting it early with the WBs shop. My WAC pre-orders typically turn up the week before general release so fingers crossed for early B5!

The price is great. I paid about that per series when they first came out on DVD. People just got used to unrealistic pricing towards the end of the DVD boom.

Like my B5 complete Universe set that I replaced the original fat boxes with for a ludicrously cheap price. Under £30 on Amazon.fr IIRC

I'm keeping mine with Amazon. The 4 pound price difference with WB isn't worth losing the flexibility to easily cancel. Plus when they promise day and date release it usually comes a day or two before.

Shame the 15% sign up code doesn't seem to work on the WBshop, would have made it £56.
Just did the HMV 10% promo myself

Just make sure you pay now, pretty much every pre-order I placed using a discount code over the last few months got cancelled due to "payment failure" despite there being absolutely nothing wrong with my card, I think they just time out after so long.

Hmmm. Currently on sale on iTunes. I tried the show years ago and just didn't click with it but I'm tempted to try again now I'm older.

Fixing the remaining remastering errors (mainly credit typos) and including both cuts of the pilot in 4:3 (and not that horrid 16:9 cropped upscale of the special edition currently on iTunes) would make this a must-buy for me.
This was probably the first DVD set of a TV series I bought. Back then, I had to get them from a regional grocery chain. Had to get them as they received them, a few seasons at a time. Within a couple of years, a few discs per season would stop playing. I was so disappointed to go back every couple years and more and more wouldn't play. If they've fixed whatever caused that, disc rot or whatever, I'll be satisfied. If this happens again, I'm going to feel like such a chump.

I really wanna get the blu-ray set coming next week, but I'm bummed about the missing movies and the missing extras. Why they gotta be so half-assed about this stuff? The only people buying this stuff now are the ones who will notice the missing stuff.

What extras are missing? I can honestly say as a fan that I'm not bothered about the movies or Crusade being missing

This is an iconic release. The movies that came later would have been nice to be included. The Gathering pilot episode is included, as it should be. Personally, as someone who had to buy seasons individually at a grocery store, waiting for them to show up a couple of seasons at a time, and then watching individual episodes become unplayable year after year from disc rot or whatever, I'm thankful. This Blu-ray release should be archival quality that I can revisit for many years. When Babylon 5 showed up, it almost never made it to completion, getting bounced around from different networks. I get your disappointment, but the movies are out there and are available on DVD. I'd given up hope that an archival release would ever show up. My biggest fear is this Blu-ray release will start self-destructing each year. I'll worry about the movies a year from now.

I’m sure if the series sells well they’ll do the movies.

Last I heard, this release is bare-bones, and that there are zero extras.

As far as the movies, "In the Beginning" is the only other one I wish this set had.

It has the original pilot and a trailer for the animated movie and that’s it for extras.

I didn't know about the extras. I'm gutted and kind of want to just return it now.

How's the picture quality? I have only seen the Dvd and some of the HD streaming.

Pretty much the same as the streaming version, albeit with a much better bitrate. Night and day difference to the DVDs.

Anyone else have one of the holders not attached inside. I can't figure out how to snap it back into place. What's the trick?

Maybe they aren’t intended to be attached? I know at this point anyhow that mine isn’t attached

I wasn’t clear. Not the whole thing but just one of the holders. It popped off and I can’t get it to pop back in. It isn’t broken though.

I also noticed a brief shimmer at 24 - 27 minutes into the first episode. So far, no other flaws.
