Default How to make BD80 Multiregion (DVD)

Hi,

I have just purchased Panasonic BD80 (live in UK), one of the attractions was the abilityto play multiregion for DVD's as I have so many region one.
I have read the manual and put into internet and the only way I found to play Region 1 is to buy another remote control for around £20.
In UK all BD are advertised as Multi Region (DVD not Blue Ray as I know you have to pay £150ish for a chip to do that).
Is there something I do with the player that I am missing on?

Many thanks if you can help,

Gadjet

Nope, you did not miss anything from the player/manual; all Panasonics (and most others) are region-locked out-of-the-box for both DVD and BD.

I am not sure though if you need to buy a seperate remote for the 'remote codes' to work, or that you can do the trick with your own remote (and just need to find the applicable codes) . Maybe someone else can chime in here.

Cheers Gekke,

What a pain, thats being polite when all the adverts on the web sites state "multi region". I have seen on ebay you have to pay a further £25 to rent a remote to put hack into player to then send back. Surely the web sites should either change the player themselves or not be able to put it in there advert it is multi region.
I know £25 isnt going to bankrupt me just there advert is lie. Wish you could do them for false information.

Anyway besides that great player though, definately increase in sound quality over PS3, not massive but it is "more off" for want of better statement.

if you just bought it, look up panasonic service agents in your area and take it in along with original docket. they will multi-region (dvd) it for free.
