Default What is the overall consensus on the Blumhouse Halloween trilogy?

Halloween 2018

My opinion on Halloween 2018 is mixed to negative. I generally loved the music a lot, I remember listening to it many times when it released. The music was great.

I love the moment of Michael dropping the teeth in the restroom, to scare the podcaster. It felt like something Michael would do, and I wish the movie had more moments like that.

I liked Vicky the babysitter, and the little boy she was babysitting. She was really likeable, and I would've preferred if she was the lead over Allyson.

I liked the scenes of Vicky babysitting, and her death. Something about those scenes reminded me of the Halloween Nightdance comics. By the way I recommend those comics.

I like the concept of the motion sensor scene. The execution of the scene not so much.

Michael stalked at least once in the movie.

I'm glad the podcasters were killed off very early. I hated those two characters with a passion. So that was a good thing about the movie.

I went to the theater to see this with one of my friends. I didn't enjoy the movie, but I'm glad I got to hang out with my friend.

Similar to Halloween 4, anything negative said about this movie is also treated as sacrilege. So I'm very hesitate to list any problems about the movie.

Halloween Kills

My opinion on Halloween Kills is just negative. I like about 15 minutes of music.

Again I'm very hesitate to list any problems with Kills. The fact I didn't list a lot of good things should speak for itself I guess.

I guess I'll list at least one problem. Laurie Strode/Jamie Lee Curtis was wasted in this movie. I already know the response I'll get. "Well she was injured what'd you expect." Then they shouldn't have set the movie on the same night then.

Halloween Ends

I'm very indifferent towards Ends, so I guess that counts as negative.

I thought most of the acting was an improvement compared to the two previous movies. I might get some hate for that comment.

There's a piece of music towards the end I liked.

Again I'm hesitate to list problems.

Anyway, what is your opinion on these movies? Do you like them? Do you hate them?

Halloween Ends is the best.

I liked the first one quite a bit with the exception of the nonsense with the psychiatrist.... .5 out of 5

then the 2nd one was a giant dose of meh with a lousy and offensive ending...
out of 5

that was nothing compared to the abomination of part 3....I can't even fathom what they were thinking... were they catering to a crowd of hipsters that thought it would be cool to completely change the entire narrative of this series? How could anyone be happy with this pathetic wrap-up to an iconic (but admittedly uneven) series???

out of 5

I like all 3 to various amounts. Don’t think any of them are great by any means but they’re enjoyable for what they are.

All three are superior to the stupidity that is Halloween II (1981). The idea of Michael and Laurie being siblings is nothing more than a lame ESB-ripoff.

I only saw the first 2018 Halloween, and thought it was one of the better Halloween films IMO. Haven't seen the other two yet.

As a trilogy: HATED it and try to pretend I never saw it.

However, I really enjoyed Halloween 2018. I own it on disc and regularly view it as the conclusion of my own "I know it doesn't make total sense" trilogy of Halloween flicks: Halloween 1978, Halloween II 1981, and Halloween 2018. As much as they DON'T work well together (by design)... I find they work really well together, lol. The small inconsistencies I have to overlook are wayyyy easier to justify in my mind than many of the regular plot moments we horror fans accept all the time!

I like the trilogy overall, but it comes with creative bumps. DGG has this habit of being hit and miss. A mixed bag. For every good idea he presents, he hits you with a questionable idea. Even in his latest Exorcist as an example. He hasn't made a movie that doesn't mildly frustrate me at times.

I liked them all but I also don’t care about “overall consensus”, the unwashed masses stink!

I liked 2018, indifferent to Kills, and I love Ends.

I hope Ends gains the recognition it deserves with time.

"THIS ISN'T WHAT WE WANTED!!!"

Bietch, you don't even know what you want until it's served to you. All the GA says they want are vague general sayings that are easy to tweet and gain 20K likes.

Individually, or in that trilogy boxset from Best Buy? That trilogy is $64 right now. Personally I'd suggest you get it now while it's still on sell and in stock.

I recently got H2 and H20 on 4k. It cost a pretty penny but it was worth it in the end. Still waiting for my H1 4k though.

Amazon has the 4K trilogy for $40.

Cheapest as possible is my personal preference.

I like the whole franchise, some more than others. Ends toe had some inconsistent elements but over all was a good ending.
