Well, for one, it's actually in stock, so that's always nice.

I already own the RZ50... they go in and out of stock often enough on Amazon and the Onkyo site. THey actually had a refurb on there for like $1,100 a few weeks ago, but I had already ordered one from Amazon. Either way I am happy with it, I just wonder how the two flagships compare since they are so similar.

The RZ50 is very nice. My previous receiver was part of the Onkyo RZ series and it was my favorite receiver to date.

Because of inflation the Pioneer VSX-LX505 has now seen a $200 price increase. The official Pioneer list price on the Pioneer Elite VSX-LX505 is now $1,699. It looks like all online dealers that have stock are now selling the A/V receiver at $1,699.

All brand-new Pioneer Elite products come with a 3-year warranty. This Pioneer Elite VSX-505 A/V receiver is $1,699 for a brand new version. On the Pioneer website they just started offering a Certified Refurbished version for only $1,199 and it comes with a 1-year warranty (this is until supplies last).

Pioneer just ran out of stock on the refurbished VSX-LX505 A/V receivers, they most likely only had one or two in stock. There still is some VSX-LX305 refurbished in stock for $999. Same warranty of 1 year for refurbished model and 3 years for brand new models.

I will be pulling the trigger on the 505 around June. Prices are still stuck at $1,699 everywhere. Doubt they will go down by then since inflation is only now starting to flatten out.

With me buying a new house and getting new HT equipment, Biden's inflationary economic plan is killing my bank account. Need to stop the Fed's benchmark interest rate approach....I think that may start to happen by summer, but that will be too late for me. All that has done is raise both mortgage rates and the obligatory equipment prices significantly higher than this time last year.

Sometimes Pioneer comes out with new Elite models in the summer and fall. Not sure what they are planning on doing this year. If a replacement to the VSX-LX505 occurs this year then the VSX-LX505 could see a $100 price cut to move inventory for the new improved hypothetical 2023 Elite replacement model that might come out. Pioneer Elites normally saw a new model every year unless the company moves to every two years for a new model.

Pioneer Elite A/V receivers in general last a long time, I and some family members I know have several different models with a few being 15 years old and still working fine. Same is true for a Yamaha A/V receiver that is 15 years old and still working. Just place the A/V receiver on a good quality UPS power back up or surge protector and they should last a long time in theory.

Yes hopefully inflation will come under control or one might be paying $2,000+ for a medium level A/V receiver instead of $1,699.

I love my current SC-05 I got back in 2010. 13 years its been running with no issues. I used it every day to watch TV, but I also only asked it to power my surrounds, as I have separate monoblocks for my fronts/center. I love my SC-05 so much, that is why I am sticking with Pioneer for my badly needed upgrade. Plus the room I plan to put it in will have challenges, so I am curious to see what Dirac can do for me.
