It's Burton, it's not another live-action Disney thing (though the two he directed were fine), so I'm in.

If it is done in the style of Mars Attacks it could be fabulous.

Sounds interesting but it depends on who they get to play as the "50ft Woman".

Well, if Tim Burton will be directing a remake of Attack Of The 50 Ft. Woman (1958), consider me "cautiously optimistic" regarding the end result of this project.
He's a lifelong die-hard fan of classic horror movies, monsters, and schlocky b-films so at least there's a better chance of this being a loving homage to a bygone era of cinema rather than yet another soulless Hollywood cash-grab remake. Just look at his work such as Vincent (1982), Frankenweenie (1984), Ed Wood (1994), & Mars Attacks! (1996). If he can create something with a similar kind of atmosphere and aesthetic, we will all be in for a much needed cinematic "breath of fresh air". Personally, I'm hoping that a film like this could even help ignite a whole new wave/generation of "monster kids". Or at least encourage and convince people to go check out and actually watch (and hopefully enjoy) all the older films of this variety in general. Monsters seem to be having a very difficult time captivating the younger generations' interest within the 21st century. I guess it's just nearly impossible for campy black-and-white films to compete with video games, superheroes, anime, and social media. ![]() ![]() Anyway, whatever it takes to generate enough new interest in order to have the remaining bunch of 1950s horror/sci-fi films finally get proper restorations and Blu-ray releases. ![]() |
