I was literally just about to post here that there might not be a bigger testament to how much of a bust Criterion's venture into 4K has been than the fact that a film with a 4K DI and currently nominated for several Oscars (including for Picture, Directing, Lead Actress, and Original Screenplay) is still not enough for Criterion to release it in 4K.

They're licensing this from NEON. The description says 2K digital master. If it were available for them on 4K, they would have done a 4K.

4K DI according to IMDb but it is totally possible that NEON/Decal would want to do their own 4K Collector's Edition release like they did with OLDBOY.

IMDb isn’t always reliable.

Another killer cover from artist Greg Ruth too. Definitely thought it was a photo on first glance until I saw who did the cover.

Shot in 4.5K at the very least. https://www.indiewire.com/gallery/ca...robert-yeoman/

I don't dislike this but I do prefer the original poster, I think it's very striking

Yeah, I really like the original poster too. Ruth usually goes all out with his package art, so I do look forward to seeing his disc art, and other parts of the packaging. He sometimes breaks down his illustrations, and shows his rejected art on his socials too.

This was one of my favorite movies of 2023, but I find Criterion's premium prices hard to justify when it's just a frickin' blu-ray. Coupled with the slim selection of extras and straight up laughable cover and this is an easy pass for me.

Guaranteed this gets a 4K eventually, so this Criterion edition is just a "tie you over till then" release anyway.

Cover is pretty bad. I know that sounds lame but what does it tell us about the movie?

Fantastic news. Hopefully we'll get a Criterion for Killers of the Flower Moon or Poor Things. Will definitely pick this up during the next Criterion sale.
