Never seen it but Susan George is ace*. StudioCanal released it on Blu-ray a few years ago IIRC.

*Which reminds me, I need a 4K release of Straw Dogs pronto.

Wow really surprised to see this coming from Kino. Haven't seen it since Anchor Bay put out their DVD (probably 2 decades ago at this point) and I didn't realize the Shout BD was OOP.

Hope this means more Studio Canal titles that went OOP from SF are gonna hit 4K in the near future.

EDIT: so the SF edition is still in stock on Amazon, not sure if that's just the remaining stock or if the title is actually OOP but it would make sense since Kino just announced a BD/4K.

Yeah, SF's release is OOP. It's just whatever stock is left that's being sold.

it was added to SF's Going OOP / While Supplies page along with a bunch of other titles (a lot of Fox stuff ) in December. I made a post about it. I'm pretty sure Kino got more of the non-Fox titles here.

I had no clue the Scream Factory disc went out of print either. I've had it for several years, and owned the Anchor Bay DVD long before that. I'm hoping this means we get more of these Studio Canal titles on 4K—I'd love for them to do Fear in the Night. Kino's output lately is crazy.

Same here, though I never cared much for the color grading on the SC remaster; the old ABE DVD looked much vibrant, IMO.

Excellent development. Another uhd release I didn't expect to see come flying out of left field from Kino. Anything featuring sexy, spunky Karen George in 4k is most welcome. Now let's hope we see this roll out before 2025!

Speaking of Anchor Bay dvds from back in the day which Shout then rolled out in blu a few years back and have now gone oop, can I also get me some Warning Sign (1985) in 4k uhd, please??!! After rewatching Phase IV and Andromeda Strain (where's dat uhd, Arrow???), I'm feeling needy for some more nostalgic '70s and '80s paranoia sci fi in 4k.

Also funnily listed as “remade as” Trick or Treats (1982) on IMDB, it has a similar babysitter plot but this one’s actually well done

pass.

this one to me is similar to VS's announcement of DR TERROR'S HOUSE OF HORRORS....

both are lower middle tier horror flicks that I already have a blu ray release of that I'm happy with...

I can't justify upgrading EVERY blu ray in my collection to 4k.........

Yeah Kino should drop the “Coming Soon” from their announcements unless the release is actually around the corner lol. Some of their announcements take up to a year or more to surface.

I’m hoping Superstition and The Manitou aren’t far behind

The first movie that stars Susan George getting a 4K release, and it isn't Straw Dogs?? (Still have no idea how that didn't get a 50th Anniversary 4K. It's near the top of my wishlist). Fright on the other hand is a decent enough horror movie, not one I'd upgrade from the Blu-ray though.

Believe it or not, I think Fox has the 4K rights to Straw Dogs.. which means Disney unfortunately.

I really appreciate Kino's trend of representing wide swaths of a director's filmography.

Kubrick
Wilder
Friedkin
Lumet
Frankenheimer
Sturges
Woo
Demme
Collins

I take it Criterion can't somehow get the rights to put out another release of Straw Dogs??

Fright is like an extended episode of the 70s ITV series Thriller. Brian Clemens used this theme so often it’s diluted the movies’ impact for me. Of course that doesn’t apply if you’re not familiar with Thriller! Added to my wish list but not one to get the pulse racing.

Kinda funny how we've reached the point where so many titles as just being passed around boutique labels.

While I'm sure this will look nice, I'm more than content with my Shout Factory disc (which also looked great).

For sure. It's the golden age of boutique labels right now, and any, and every thing available to license becomes a feeding frenzy between these labels.
