Default Room Redecoration Downloads/Software?

Are there free or for a price, downloads or software that would allow you to load a picture of your room and then edit things within the pic to give you an idea how a room would look if you changed things around? I would like to fool around with something like this, but I do not even know if it exists?

Hiya forsberg. The only way you can really do what you want is to use photoshop, and cut and paste objects. What you might want to do though, is to download Google Sketchup for free and design something with that ? Just get your room measurements, and let your creative juices flow with it. I've used it many a time for designing layouts.

There's X amount of tutorials on the software, but it's pretty self explanatory and intuitive anyway. Give it a butchers and see what you think.

Thanks, I'll have to give that a try. I appreciate the info a lot!

No worries mate

Just as a bit of an insight into Sketchup a bit more, and I hope he won't mind me posting this, but a member on here called Scott asked for a bit of advice on giving his room a bit of a makeover (not that it needs it !).

Here's a couple of pics of his lovely HT as it is:

the full gallery can be found here:

So, even though I'm no expert on Sketchup, I knocked these up for him:

They don't take long once you get used to the software, which has a great learning curve. It just goes to show how easy it is to get some fresh ideas in your head if you're after a room redesign.

I deffo recommend Sketchup. Heck, I designed all the rooms in our gaf with it - even the Kitchen and entertainment units ! Makes life a whole lot easier to envisage an end result.

Good luck with it !

Nice! That looks like a useful and fun tool! And you can move the furniture without working ! I will be checking it out, thanks.
