I can't find any information on if they're 1080i50 or 1080p24, though I assume the former just based off the Polybend releases I have picked up.
To my knowledge all German releases, including these, are 50i.

I got mine and finally glad they corrected the FPS. As they kept the number of discs the same for each season and I just swapped the new discs in to the respective steelbooks and the old discs to the plastic cases so now all steelbooks discs are correct 50i fps.

The only exception was the David Tennant specials in the steelbook had one extra disc so that stayed in the steelbook as it was the dreamland and the infinite quest bonus features.

This for me was long over. I brought the German discs for the specials as I could not watch the 60i discs and now they rendered to spare discs. Now torchwood needs to be redone. The 50th anniversary when that got fixed I was expecting then Season 1 - 4 and the specials to be fixed.

The only season out of place is season 5. I got both steelbooks for Season 5. The new steelbook matches the others but is 24p but the old one is 50i but it's DTS-HR and not MA. It's the only one that needs a 50i with ma audio.

The complete Series 5 was correct in being 1080i@50 but was encoded in VC1 and Audio being DTS-HD HR 5.1. The first non matching silver steelbook had the correct 50i discs but when they did the new season 5 steelbook that was matching the rest of the other steelbooks they for some reason decided to use the 24p with DTS-HD MA discs.

Fans actually wrote to BBC Studios asking for this, as the "remastered" 24p discs have the Next Time trailers restored. Unlike every other Series, they had been cut for the 2010 releases.

I'm conflicted about which Doctor Who Blu-ray boxed set that I want to buy. For context, I live in the United States and these are my choices I'm looking at currently: buying both US releases of The Complete First Series and The Complete David Tennant Collection or importing the newly released Doctor Who: Series 1-4 & Specials Collection set from the UK. On one hand, I’d love to be able to watch the remastered versions (before I watched them on DVD and Max), on the other hand I love having a good variety of bonus features. Which set do you guys recommend I buy?

If it were me, I'd buy the newly-released 1-4 set from the UK as it has best-quality video at the correct framerate. That said, while that set does have plenty of bonus features, it doesn't have EVERY bonus feature from all the Blu-ray sets that have been released over the years, but I think it's the most space-friendly way to own as many of the features as possible.

I can't believe that this is restored. The Picture Quality isn't really better than the first Edition Bluray.
It still looked realy bad

I'm not too surprised, though I was hoping for some improvement. These are always going to look bad due to how they were shot. At least the UK set has the original framerates now. I haven't taken a look at my UK set yet.

I'd love to see some direct comparison pics.

The only way I think they might get any (even if small) improvements on this, is to reassemble the episodes and re-render the CG and upscale it from there. But I have my doubts they still have all the original tapes completely in the archive. And that's ignoring the handful of stuff they decided to shoot on film (Special Effects such as the Elizabeth Tower/Big Ben being destroyed by the alien ship) which also might or might not be lost as well.

The only Doctor Who content that's gotten a 4K release is the two mid-60s Peter Cushing films and Peter Capaldi's swansong, Twice Upon a Time. Not sure if we'll ever got more than that, but I'd love it if we did!

It's waiting until the BBC decides to support 4k Blu-ray again besides the nature documentaries. And I honestly have my doubt they will any time soon.

Only perhaps the classic series (if they have the og 35mm if it were filmed on 35mm) and everything past the HD specials could benefit from 4k.
It might not be worth it.

Apparently there's a disc replacement service in place for the End of Time disc? Does anyone know more about this?

I received my replacement disc at the weekend. It replaces disc 2 of the Specials.

You need to email DVDSupport@bbc.com, attach proof of posting (I screengrabbed my order) and include your address.
