Have ps3 as pcm output and hook up by hdmi as that is the only way you'll get hd audio (it won't bitstream hd audio). Multi channel in I think for the setting is should display on pcm. Also make sure the firmware is up to date on that receiver as I had numerous audio problems with it (you can change audio sync but that didn't help). I'd personally think about a different receiver imo...it looks good but the hk 254 doesn't play nice sometimes. I've had a ps3 hooked up the the 254 for 3/4 a year so I can speak from experience on that matter.

Connect via HDMI, and on the PS3 change everything to Multi-Channel PCM. And your set, you have HD audio.

I haven't had much of a problem. Just on native 5.1 Dolby Digital tracks. I was playing Metal Gear Solid and on the loading screen the sound would drop and when it came back on it was only the left and right channel. No dialog could be heard. That was very annoying, very annoying. I had to turn off then turn on the receiver to get 5.1. That sucked. Although, that's the only game that gave me trouble. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is 7.1, and that, when you start and game after loading goes straight to 7.1. And, I haven't had any problems with any BD's.

That's a great amp.
I've had it for almost a year and it sounds great. You'll find some people have had issues with this reciever but fortunately I've had no issues. As mentioned above set the ps3 to pcm audio out and connect with an hdmi.
Note - the amp won't say DTS HD or DolbY True HD on its display because the decoding is happening in the ps3.
Good Luck
