I love the first Ong Bak but haven't seen this one yet. Looks great and is on my movies to watch list.

I thought Ong Bak 2 already came out and has been out in Asia for awhile?

I think Ong Bak 3 is coming out in December of this year in Thailand

I ordered it from Red Sun DVD and the English subs are excellent. Not always the case with foreign dvds, but I've never had a bad set of subs on a movie gotten through RSD.

That said, this movie was disappointing.

The action/violence in it is just straight up brutal. Far more so than anything in the 1st movie.

However, there's nothing in the 2nd movie that's even comparable to the 1st as it pertains to the exciting "what the .... did he really just do that?" type moments, such as the chase scene in the first movie through that village where he was jumping over cars and through hoops and sheets of glass.

I guess I was expecting that, and there's really none of that in this.

There's a really cool scene where he's running along these elephants, which is probably the closest you come to that type of thing. That scene was just incredible though, to be honest.

Story wise it got kinda confusing at times, but for the most part I was able to follow it.

Expect plenty of brutal violent action and fight scenes, but don't go in expecting to get more of the same, because like me you'll be disappointed.

I know I'll see it regardless. I haven't seen a decent martial arts flick in a while now.

He tried to make some sort of "epic" film with Ong Bak 2 but he fails to realize all we need him to do is lose something, realize it's missing, and kick ass while he goes to find it.

LOL this is true. First a statue then an elephant.

Ong Bak 2 was awesome but some of the shots are odd and they don't have as many long cuts like in Ong Bak and Tom Yung Goong.

Hopefully Onk Bak 3 will be better. It was nice to see Tony do multiple styles of fighting instead of just Muy Thai though.

I think it's time for Luc Besson to direct Tony in his next film.
