Canada Freddy Vs. Jason and The Cell

I live in the U.S., and I want to ask about the PQ and AQ of the Canadian (Alliance) BDs of "Freddy Vs. Jason" and "The Cell".
For PQ, are their OARs correct and are they 1080p?
For AQ, you can just comment on the DTS HD MA -- I've heard they sound great.

Both of those releases are 2.35:1 (proper ratios), have DTS-MA, & are 1080p. No extras, subtitles or menus are present.

The only one I've actually watched is The Cell, which looked pretty good. My only complaint was that the exterior desert scenes could have used a lot more work. I've heard the FvJ disc is quite good transfer-wise. Keep in mind that Warner/New Line is releasing a better version of FvJ next month (all old extras included).

Hey Rhylliam,
I am wondering if the desert scenes were ment to look this way... any chance you comparred with the DVD to see if it was directors intent or not?

I have another question:
Just curious, do the Alliance BDs of films like "The Cell" and "Freddy Vs. Jason" (movies made by New line Cinema) have the New Line Cinema logo trailer right before these films start (you know, like watching them at the movies)?
The reason why I am VERY interested in these Canadian imports is for the DTS. The U.S. version of FvJ will not have DTS of any kind.
I will be buying more Canadian import BDs provided that 1) the U.S. versions do not have DTS and 2) perhaps more importantly, the OAR is theatrically correct and is in 1080p.

Thanks,
Jodi

I am pretty sure the new line logo trailer is replaced by the alliance logo

i have freddy vs. jason. got it a long time ago. The transfer will be identical for the U.S. release which is in september. You should just wait for the U.S. release on that one as it will have all the special features that the canadian release is missing. And the picture quality and sound is amazing. I've watched it a whole bunch of times already. Havne't seen the Cell on blu yet though so I can't comment on that.

I never owned the DVD, so cannot compare...

During the actual feature itself, the New Line logo is present at the beginning. After the disc loads, before the film starts, the Alliance logo shows as its own 15-second "trailer" as you call it.

I have freedy vs jason on dvd and blu and let me tell you, the blu is leaps and bounds better then the DVD, the only thing it doesnt have is any special features but the special features werent that important anyways. FvJ sounded great aswell, def worth the price of 14 bucks at wal mart
