Default Can I copy my downloaded games to a 2nd PS3 I just bought?

I got a 2nd PS3 for my bedroom. This is the one I will mainly using for games while the one in the living room will be used for movies. How can I copy the downloaded games that I purchased for the 1st one to the 2nd one?

Go to your account management, and you can view your download history and re-download your content. But you can only re-download purchased content I think a max of 5 times.

Bingo, you just have to have keep that same login on the second system in order for the games to stay.

No this is not true, you can download purchased content as many times as you would like. There is no limit, but the limit comes from the amount of ps3's you can have activated at one time and that number is 5.

You won't be able to copy it. I think downloads work like this, you can download to 5 different machines using your one account. You can re-download an infinite number of times to each machine that has one of the original 5 downloads. I think

this is correct, you may need to contact sony to deactivate the old one so it doesnt count as one of your 5

I don't think the OP wants to deactivate the living room PS3's ability to play downloaded games completely. (And you can always deactivate it yourself, if you want, unless the PS3 is defective/inoperable.)

Avarice is right. You can download purchased content as many times as you'd like, and use it on up to 5 different PS3's, provided you use the same PSN account (or a sub-account, I believe).

I did exactly what the OP did--bought a 2nd PS3 for my bedroom, and had to do this. Which makes me wish Sony had some sort of Content Sync feature for people with multiple PS3's, because finding and downloading over 180 items of purchased DLC amidst a list of over 300 downloaded items took FOREVER.

Just do a whole system backup onto an external harddrive.

Go to the other PS3 and restore the system from your backup.

That's it. moving to a new PS3 should be no different than putting in a new hard drive. Unless there is an IP address issue.

Some things (Rock Band DLC) do not work if you do this.

Now can another user (logged in as them, not me) then play those games that have been re-downloaded to the 2nd PS3?

you mean if you have two users on the same PS3? you should be able to use the downloaded content under either user name, regardless of who did the download

Only if the users are all tied to the same master account (ie. one is the master account and one is a sub-account). That's my understanding of how it works. If my brother-in-law came over, created a new user profile on my PS3, and attached that to his PSN account, he couldn't see or use my DLC.

I think.

Somewhere in the changing your harddrive thread there is a link to a review that was done with a SSD in a PS3. It was an improvement but not really worth the money for the drive/size.
