Cool. I am a big Chow Yun Fat fan, but this is one of the movies I haven't seen, yet.

Looks fantastic so far, hopefully the rest of the BR itself will be too. Should be a welcome upgrade to the old DVD I have of this film.

I'm not a big fan of romance movies but this is one of my favorite Chow Yun-Fat movies. He and Cherie Chung always had great chemistry onscreen!

I haven't seen it but I adore Now You See Love, Now You Don't, although I admit I gave it attention originally because it includes so many of the Hard Boiled cast.

Watched this recently when it hit Criterion Channel, very good film. Criterion will actually be releasing this in the US at some point in the future (the film opened with the Criterion and Janus logos), but 88 Films' release will surely be superior.

Not necessarily. 88 Films isn’t always the most consistent with the quality of their output… or their release dates for that matter.

They certainly have been showing more success in quality than Criterion as of late, especially when it comes to releases of Asian cinema.

It's also not surprising Criterion has been struggling as of late (including layoffs), because their releases have been generally weaker too.

Luckily this is a D&B title controlled by Fortune Star (Most of Chow Yun Fat's work was with Cinema City/Golden Princess which is held up by Kowloon looking for a buyer) and got a new 2k scan and restoration.

Honestly, it might even be a 4K scan considering Spectrum has a 4K coming in France.

Interesting, because Fortune Star did a 2k master back in 2018 and just started offering it out to licensors. Maybe they went back and did a 4k HDR from the same scan hence the French release?

They reportedly have rehired nearly everyone, and Janus Films has been acquiring a bunch of new titles.

Glad they seem to be doing better now as a company but I wish they'd put more effort into producing better quality discs.

I would rather stronger encodes/transfers and discs that don't easily scratch than a bunch of extras, especially given how much they charge.
