It's interesting to see that HD DVD is very dead in Japan now. After a small spate of releases from Universal in September, they have maybe two or three titles in October. The only things in November is the Warner releases that are in both formats on 11/23. Support there is very poor.

well, technically, it's the same region so you CAN get it without worry. It'll just cost a couple bucks more than what MSRP in the US would be.

Yeah but it's more than "a couple bucks" - more like twice as well since no one pays MSRP in the US.

I suspect this will be announced for release here in the States very soon though. It's far from a favorite of mine but I wouldn't mind having it for the usual $18 at Amazon.

Matter of perspective I guess. When it comes to the anime side, because of the more niche aspect in Japan and different business model, a $30 disc here is on average $70-100. So seeing a Warner DVD list for $29.98 in the US and $37 in Japan, it's just a couple bucks more. Buy through Amazon Japan and get a 20% discount on preorders too.
