Default 007: The Timothy Dalton Collection Blu-ray

Was this actually released or was it a limited run? I can't find it anywhere.

never could find this being sold anywhere at a reasonable price, was gonna buy the blu collections for the older bonds but the Dalton one being unavailable pushed me to buy the big box of it all.

I remember seeing this set at Walmart in 2015.

It's impossible to find now.

A very limited pressing, probably.

I just bought the actor collections from 2020 and The Daniel 4K collection from 2022 plus The Living Daylights & Licence to Kill from 2020 separately.

Slightly off topic, but as a huge James Bond fan, I wish I had given Timothy Dalton more props in the late 80's, when these films were new. I liked the movies, but I didn't give him nearly enough credit for what a good job he did in the role.

I grew up with Roger Moore as Bond, with TSWLM being the first 007 film I had seen in the theater. I saw Moonraker through AVTAK all on opening day. And of course, I saw the Connery films on television during that same period, back in the prehistoric days before home video. To me, those two guys were James Bond (obviously each playing the character in their own way).

I think after so many years in a row of seeing Moore, it was just too strange seeing someone else play the role, which was similar to how I felt the first time I watched OHMSS.

It was only later, after watching the entire series many times during the laserdisc years, that I appreciated how good Dalton was. Though he only got two shots at the role, I felt he even gave Connery a run for his money. He provided a great combination of toughness with a dash of humor, as well as being calculated but still showing a touch of humanity with the female leads when the moment called for it. As great as Connery was, he kinda lacked that "humanity" (for lack of a better term). It would have been fascinating to see how Connery would have played the scene where Tracy is killed at the end of OHMSS. As cold as he had been to the women in the preceding films, I found myself wondering how well he could have pulled it off. (For the record, I thought Lazenby did a really good job, and as I said, I didn't warm to him either the first time I saw OHMSS).

Anyway, just wanted to pay some belated respect to Timothy Dalton, who I feel is very underappreciated when people talk about the Bond series. Yes, I know the Pierce Brosnan films did much better at the box office (I think he had a lot more appeal to the female half of the audience than Dalton), but in my opinion Dalton was a WAY better James Bond. I remember a writer once stating that Brosnan played Bond as a "runway model", which was a sentiment that I could relate to.

Yeah I own the Moore collections and The Living Daylights. After decades of watching anything Bond, my personal favorites rose to the surface

I ordered this on January 27, 2017, thru Amazon. Looks like it is not available at Amazon. Hope they will restock it soon. I have the individual actor sets rather than the ultimate set. You might be able to get the films individually which shouldn't be to expensive.

A couple years ago I began to acquire the first twenty James Bond movies on Blu-Ray because more than half of my Ultimate Edition DVDs were no longer playable. I chose to go for the "Actor Sets" because I already owned the five Daniel Craig movies individually on Blu-Ray. The Timothy Dalton Blu-Ray set is the one that I have had no success acquiring, although I was able to easily buy Licence To Kill on Blu-Ray individually.

I am surprised that Warner Bros has still not released the The Timothy Dalton Blu-Ray set under their Home Video label because they released all of the other James Bond actor sets in in July of 2020 even the George Lazenby set. What makes this even more unusual is that Warner Bros did release the DVD set of the Timothy Dalton collection under their label.
