I kind of want to upgrade my 2021 Sony LED TV for one of these. Everything I've seen about these has been super impressive. OLED's never been an option for my household, so this is going to be a strong consideration.

Yeah that should be a big upgrade. I just got a Sony X93L to upgrade my 2020 Sony X900H. Mainly for the gaming features as the HDMI 2.1 stuff was gimped on that model with blurry 4K120fps, no local dimming if using VRR etc. But I’ve been very impressed with how much better the overall picture is with miniLED vs. LED and the other upgrades.

These new series look like a huge jump, but still happy with my purchase as they the 7 and especially 9 series are out of my budget anyway.

Hey Robert, it's early but what your first impressions like with the Bravia 9? anything surprise you?

I've spent a lot of time with oleds but I'm still curious about high end miniled. Depending on the HDR grade a movie gets I feel the microcontrast of OLED is a little too much sometimes. Just not natural to my eyes. I'm thinking the XR90 might be the sweet spot and have more of that traditional "cinematic" look where the image carries a pleasant glow and isn't so contrasty in all areas.

I am loving Sony's new 2024 flagship BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED TV! We have one set-up in our showroom next to Sony's A95L and LG's G4 and the BRAVIA 9 has very hear the same pure blacks that only OLED TVs were able to produce.

The shadow details are significantly better on the BRAVIA 9 as are all of the peak luminance levels and larger dynamic tonal range give all images from all content a more detailed look with more depth and may I say more pop, but very accurately rendered.

Digital Audio Out is something I’ve been curious about with the Bravia 9..

I’ve read the input is a hybrid S-Speaker/Optical one connection.

If this is the case, can you run any standard optical cable connector to the port?
I have 2 different optical cables. One is a cheap thin cable & the other is a more durable gold plated thicker wired Toslink.

To be clear I’m not talking about mini-optical. The standard common size one is what I want to know if it fits in this new Sony Hybrid?

Thanks

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Bravia 9 performs in this year's Value Electronics TV shootout. How well will it be able to compete with the OLEDs? Will it be the first LCD to win the shootout since the Sharp Elite back in 2011?

Today, Sony lowered the BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED 75" to now be $3,499. and the 65" $2.999. We're still delivering Nationwide from 7 warehouses across America at no charge.

Good lord no. The orthodoxy of OLED will never be openly challenged by those in 'the industry'

This is the first year we're separating the OLED TV from LCD TVs.

So 1st we'll have our OLED TV Shootout® Evaluation event and at the conclusion we'll announce the results and crown the new "King of OLED TV™"

Then we'll have our MiniLED TV TV Shootout™ and at the conclusion we'll put the two winners butt next to each-other and compare and discus the image performance differences and which TV has the overall better picture quality.

We'll be judging all of the image quality attributes for high and low ambient light viewing pre and post calibration. So we'll be evaluating and judging the TVs in their best picture mode out of the box, and we'll also be evaluating and voting on all of the picture quality attributes with the TVs in their professional calibration modes.

I'll also looking forward to our 83" - 86" top models competing against each other in another room and although not part of our main TV Shootout, we will be carefully looking at and reviewing the differences between these top premium 83" - 86" TVs, e.g. Samsung 85" QN900D, Sony 85" BRAVIA 9 LG 83" G4, LG 86" QNED90T, Sony 83" A80L and some other same screen size top TVs for the 2024 model year.

So the UK get screwed over even more. Not only no 65" version but our 75" is £4499, though there is a £500 cashback option till 16th July (big deal). I want to see some real reviews of it before I'd commit. In the meantime I'll continue with my ZD9 until it drops in price.

Wish I lived near you Robert. Lol.
