Default At what point did the Walking Dead stop being a good show?

I'd say for me it was Season 4 when Hershel was killed that I started losing interest for the show, and I kept watching till season 6 or 7? Then just quit, I got tired of it as it felt more of a chore to watch than entertainment.

The best scene in the series had to be Shane's death, nothing comes close to it:

And that was in Season 2.

I stopped around season seven or eight, but I felt an obligation to watch for a long time.

[Show spoiler]Carl’s death
is when I stopped watching, but I’m finally going in and finishing the series. That said, aside from killing a major character(s), I actually thought Negan breathed new life into the show. He was always entertaining to watch, in a Joffrey Baratheon sort of way.

I just finished a rewatch and to me seasons 1-6 are classic TWD, seasons 7-8 are a horrible chore to sit through, but the season 9 reboot was just as good as seasons 1-6, 10-11 are better than 7-8, but still not as great.

F’ing Negan. I actually stoped watching live after the season 7 premier and just binged 7-11 for the first time this past spring.

When they killed off
[Show spoiler]Carl
. That was a real downer and ruined
[Show spoiler]Rick
. I plan on finishing the series eventually though. I started buying the Blu-rays before I quit the show and continued to buy them afterwards. So soon I’ll start a full series rewatch. I’m actually looking forward to it. The Walking Dead was one of the last must see appointment TV series before streaming blew up. I always looked forward to Sunday nights. Ditto for Fear the Walking Dead. I dropped it at some point, but will pick it back up from the beginning. I want to watch the other spinoff series as well.

Season 5, because that was the moment I realized that the show was just repeating itself again and again. Characters wandering around and try to find a new place to live for a few episodes. Then they meet another group of survivors, turns out those are evil and characters die in battle. After the bad guys are dead, characters are wandering around for a new home again, until they run into another group of evil people etc.
The show lost me at that point. But damn do I still love the entire Governor battle of Season 4

I gave up the season after the Whispers, forgot what season that was. I think when Maggie left so Cohen could go make that show and come back a season later. It wasn't necessarily bad but was a chore to watch and I just never went back. I heard the last couple seasons were good, maybe one day I'll finish it.

Right during season 3, IIRC. We bailed. The show just got repetitive, no end in sight, no story arc coming, etc. I hate that crap. Thats why most shows need to wrap up within 3-4 seasons. Most(not all) that have exceeded that number of seasons ended up sucking and just getting more and more lame.

Yeah, I don't remember what season it was, it was fairly early... season 5 or 6? I know it was after Terminus when suddenly everybody was split up into a bunch of smaller groups trying to find each other. Then after that, the show would rely too heavily on splitting people up and telling the same events from different perspectives of each group or person.

I stuck with it until the end, but just barely. I started almost hate-watching it. I had planned to stop watching it weekly and wait for the season to be done before I watched it but then they announced it was going to be the final season and I just watched it as it aired. I have had no desire to rewatch it and I honestly don't think I ever will, it was such a fall.

I was there until the end and I’m currently watching the spin offs. Even though the quality did drop off, there was still some great moments and I enjoyed it despite its flaws. I was too invested in the characters to give up.

Me too. I still intend to see it through to the end, as well as Fear. Reading this scene in the comic it was tough to move on as well (the comic was inspiration for me finally trying out the show - I went through issues 1-130 in a couple days!).
