Oof. Well, if this can get a 4K, that means there's hope for The Howling II...

Never did get the Blu so this is a buy for me - wonder if it'll have any extras the last release didn't have, either way I'll grab this.

Almost worth it just for the Dourif scenes.

Even if you're grading on the "Stephen King-affiliated horror movie" curve, the major problem with this is that it takes forever to get going. Basically this movie exists for Stephen Macht and Brad Dourif to chew the scenery:

The TV cut had a different ending scene
[Show spoiler]for the sole survivor
, which was reasonably well done.

Oh wow, I wonder if we'll see the sweat even better in 4k!
Wonderful news! I've never understood the backlash against this movie, I always found it to be a very well made and fun monster movie. It was also released in 1990, my favorite year for horror movies!

Edit: I'm quite surprised this isn't coming from Scream factory, they already released in 4k two of the four Paramount Stephen King titles (silver bullet and Dead zone).

I've only seen this once, but I recall liking the atmosphere or locations of the film if nothing else. I would've really felt stupid had I gone through with the last minute purchase I was heavily contemplating when Shout! announced this was going OOP.

Surprised to see this one announced at all, and I don't really think anyone else is gonna jump to do this one anytime soon so I'll probably pick this up. Doubt it'll have a good encode though.

agreed... while I'm sure everyone here can agree that it would be nice to have EVERY title in our collection upgraded to a 4k version.... it's just not realistic. DVD to BLU RAY was/is a no brainer to me... but existing blu rays that I have no issues with... and aren't favorites.... no.

Oh, wow! I don't give a damn how many people shit on it, I just love this King adaptation (and The Mangler is unapologetically in my top five). A video store staple for me growing up in the 90s. Had a crush on Ilona Margolis and felt she should've been the love interest. And anyone could've replaced the lead block of wood. Andrew Divoff, perhaps.

Like others, there are films I'll be perfectly happy with on Blu-ray...this isn't one of them. I want to see all the nastiness in that factory in glorious 4K. It'll definitely enhance the experience.

It'd be nice if they included the t.v. cut or at least the t.v. scenes as a bonus feature, which would put this above the Shout release then.
