Disney The Fantastic Four - First Steps 3D (2025)

Ok, there does not seem to be a thread for the 3D release of Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is coming out about a year from now.

Considering how consistent Marvel has been with the 3D releases, I think it's a foregone conclusion FFFS will be given a 3D release and also shown in 3D IMAX.

There's been some footage shared online unofficially, but the studio has not yet released an official trailer or teaser.

Given what's been shown at SDCC, this could really look amazing in 3D, the Fantastic Four will reportedly have a flying car and... well, I mean, Mr. Stretch, right? If these things don't offer great opportunities for incredibly immersive 3D, I don't know what would...

Shankman has never directed a feature before. So most likely he knows zero about 3D or how to complete shots to take advantage of the format.

OK but Marvel movies also have assistant directors, and they probably have a bit of experience, right?

A flying car is great for 3D, I do agree. Anything that can float out of the screen. Marvel has been releasing some of the best 3D conversions out there over the years, so this could be great too, like the recent 3D of Wolverine & Deadpool 3D.

Marvel don't hire people based on their experience, that's the problem.

Marvel is very hit or miss with their conversions, what we got now with Deadpool doesn't really mean we will get with Fantastic 4 in terms of excellence in 3D. I expect this one to be back to normal marvel standards and look at Deadpool as an exception.

That's not what ADs do. They're involved with logistics, scheduling, liason between departments, and more. If anyone would be involved with 3d planning, it would probably be the director of photography. And few will concern themselves with it if the director doesn't.

For a franchise this big, you'd think they have someone looking over the "other" versions - the 3D, the ScreenX, etc.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3, mostly medium 3D layers, some strong 3D but a step down from 1 and 2's 3D.

Ant-Man 3, mostly medium 3D layers. Very dimly lit film didn't help the 3D.

Black Panther 2, mostly medium 3D layers. Some strong 3D.

Black Widow, medium to strong 3D. Better than Winter Soldier's 3D.

Shang Chi, medium to strong 3D. Very nice.

Spider-Man No Way Home 3D, medium layers. Not nearly as strong as the prior 2.

Dr. Strange 2 3D: Medium to strong 3D. Very nice.

The Marvel's, Medium to strong 3D. Nice conversion.

Deadpool & Wolverine 3D. Pop outs, medium to strong 3D. Really nicely done.

Captain America Brave New World: Looks like medium to strong 3D based on the trailer I saw before DP&W3D. Another potentially great conversion.

From those recent Marvel films, I agree, it is a mix of conversions. Mostly good though.

Impressive trailer. I loved the 60s retro vibe and the new (old?) Marvel Studios logo. The Thing is a bit awkward to look at (face expressions) but maybe it's because it is 2D and needs some touches for the final product.

Can't wait to go watch it in 3D.

Great cast. After Jupiter Ascending, Everest, Hobbs & Shaw and Mission Impossible: Fallout, another 3D movie with Vanessa Kirby. I´m in!

It's a solid cast but I wouldn't say a great one. I like Vanessa Kirby but not as Sue Storm, she just looks too old. Pedro Pascal I find watchable in a comfortable, predictable way, I wonder how bad everyone else was who auditioned to leave him as the best choice. The other two don't matter so much but the real selling point of this movie for me is the gorgeous retro style so I am in for that.

It is definitely an awesome cast. And that includes some actors whose appearance isn't being publicized yet...

Hoping for great 3D and a 3D blu ray from Japan. I haven't really enjoyed the last few MCU movies (outside of the 3D) so it would be nice for this and Thunderbolts to turn that around.

I agree about Kirby but I'm not displeased with the cast. Just the mustache. Pedro Pascal might not have been the best pick possible but he is better than all previous actors who have played Reed.
I might even see this in the theater if I can find a matinée. I hate giving Disney money though. It's bad enough I'll end up paying 80 bucks for the 3D blu. The best part about this movie so far is that the FF look like the FF.
