I have a NIN promo disc for Beside you in time.

I think it's very rare but then again ... you can pick up the full version which has all the same stuff and more with no trouble at all. (Then again .... the shorter version is valuable to me because I can't sit through much of it. I wish I liked NIN but seems like I don't.)

Some of my Blu Rays have epoxy marks from security tape left behind that's fully unique so that kind of trumps rare.

I have the Led Zep one with the missing feature but can't imagine it being worth more than a cool Million because it has a defect as well (sound drop out during the drum solo of Moby Dick.)

The only one I can think of was the Future Shop Steelbook for Iron Man. I went to 3 Future Shops in Toronto on Day 1 and known of them had them. I got there at 2 PM, which means in 4 hours 3 different Future Shops had sold out of them. Bit of a kick in the ass cause it's the only Canadian Steelbook (other than the Bond films) that I don't have.

Seriously? I have a copy and I've seen quite a few on store shelves up here. And it's only like $20, maybe even as low as $15 at some places now.

There's a region free version of Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas (German, I think?) that is floating out there, but I never see it for anywhere near reasonable price. That's about the only one I can think of that I would like to have.

Have those amazon ones been selling? Only a couple historical ones on ebay and not close to those prices.

So let's see, the Disney "Sleeping Beauty" will be their first Blu to be long-term vault retired (and unleashing latecomer whines of "Why do they have that stinky 'vault' policy anyway??") in, what...January?

But if we're concerning ourselves with just films, regardless of how many variations in packaging or what-have-you may exist, then no, I don't think there's anything hard to find or rare.

Some of us Blu-ray "old timers" remember when Paramount briefly went HD DVD exclusive, and pulled all their Blu-ray titles off the shelves. Titles like Blades of Glory were going for $80+ on eBay--it was nuts. But that train has sailed.
I remember that trend! They took Shooter off the shelves in my Best Buy and then HD-DVD lost the war, and then it seemed like it took them about 3-4 months to restock the blu-ray. Shooter was selling on amazon for like $80 used.

Shooter was the only blu that I paid full retail for.

Transformers the Movie (the animated movie from 1986) seems to be out of print now. It was released in the UK.

Id say in the uk the T2 skynet endo skull is pretty rare as only one online store had it as an exclusive to them and it came off sale about 3 weeks after the release date.

I picked up the LE Akira and expected to crack it open and watch right away. But haven't done it yet, and to be honest, I've now got that stupid "collectible" mentality, wondering if I should buy a second copy and keep the LE sealed. Hopefully, I'll get over it and crack that puppy open eventually.

Red Cliff I & II

You can find it on amazon, and can still pick it up from renchi and dddhouse for the moment, but once they release the bastardized cut here in the states, you'll see folks salivating for the complete set.

I have that Akira. I hate slipcovers but I always save them, and that book. Is it worth much?

iDk if this is rare or not but TL found a copy of Star Wars Clone Wars that came with a slipcover and a comic book of the clone wars at Target, however, TL cant find it anywhere anymore, even at Target.

EDIT:

this is what the case artwork and slipcover look like

There is also the Tartan BDs that have gone out of print.

I remember a few months ago, the handful of us Blu-ray.com members flocking to get a hold I'm A Cyborg But That's Ok which was thought to be out of print at the time and sadly, now is.

There is also the BD of P that can be purchased direct from Thailand only since HKFlix.com won't ship to the US due to copyright issues with Palisades Films.

The US Blu-ray will be intact. Only the theatrical release is butchered

You could have probably guessed this from my name, but anyways - I am an avid collector of all things NIN, and I obviously own the aforementioned BD Promotional Sampler as well as an HD-DVD Promotional Sampler of same content (5 tracks). The BD Promotional Sampler is fairly rare, but quite easy to obtain on eBay for as low as $6 or so. What I do own that is incredibly rare is a BD-R Promotional Disc that contains same 5 tracks, but was as limited as some 50 copies. Though such a release would be of no interest to most people on these forums.

I believe there is no such thing as a truly rare BD for now, since, as said by many forum members before, the format is rather young. And such things as rarity of packaging or specific release details will appeal to a very limited audience.

I've had an import of "The Last Legion" on my wishlist for a while (director's cut, I believe); only a few copies for sale at Amazon, and they seem a bit expensive. Surely that's a rare one.

All that much prouder to own it.
