Ohh, good point. Doesn't bode well to have no sign of that 4 years after they released the first. Too bad they didn't bundle them together into one release like they've been doing lately with some of the Japanese titles.

Didn't Eureka say the sequel was in no fit state to release when they saw the elements?

BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR will not be coming back into stock at the Eureka site, according to them, so if you want it and haven't got it, you might want to get it.

is this the shortest period of time a BD has stayed in print, at least in recent years?

Yeah this disc was first announced during the Covid lockdown.

Remember that?

Those were the days.

Correct. AFAIK, they weren't given access to any original elements, just the master that was used for the Chinese Blu. It's a hot mess. So, Eureka took a pass on releasing it.

In case it isn't clear, there are no longer any copies of this on the Eureka site. But Ebay copies - of apparently the good, corrected edition - are still around and of a similar price. They'll gradually become harder to grab, so anyone who wants this one should make a move in the near future.

I asked if any other Asian / martial arts titles were about to disappear and they said the limited of KUNG FU CULT MASTER was nearly gone, but the regular would be around. They didn't mention anything else as being in danger.

I was waiting for the standard edition to go on sale in order to replace my first pressing version with the subtitle glitch, but since it is now oop in Eureka's own shop I snatched a copy from the Amazon market place and was lucky. Now I finally own the perfect version of one of my favorite HK movies.

This was a disc purchased direct from Eureka, although I assume that any copies you buy (Amazon, Deff, Zavvi, etc.) will be fine as long as they're not first pressings.

Oh, and I don't know if they changed anything else. I just bought a copy recently and was curious if the sub issue had been silently corrected.

EDIT: Okay. Here are all the codes on the bottom of the disc.

IFPI LY24
1A00
A0103313271-A911 1000
A0103313271-B911 2000

Cat# EKA70399 is on the sleeve. EKA70399 and VFC12416 are printed on the disc. 5060000703993 is the EAN/UPC code. I don't see any other distinguishing marks. If anybody would like to compare against a first pressing, that'd be awesome. I think the VFC code might be new. I don't see any references to it online.
I have the first print with slipcover and booklet:

IFPI LY26
IFPI LY24
A0103278444-A911 2000
A0103278444-B911 1000

EKA70399 on sleeve and slipcover
EKA70399 and VFC12416 printed on the disc
5060000703993 is the UPC code

Is it confirmed that all of the standard editions have the revised disc?

Thanks. I'd imagine that the first pressing sold out long ago. Any new copies should be safe to purchase. Used copies may be more of a gamble but I assume any pressings beyond the first won't be in a slip, and will be safe. I just can't guarantee it.

I see this is now "discontinued from the publisher" on Eureka's website...can we expect someone else to pick up the license, a NA rerelease, or even a UHD at some point in the not too distant future?

I am still waiting for part 2 to be released. A really underrated and underseen sequel that was very good, imho

Afaik Eureka considered the existing master of part 2 as of insufficient quality for their standards and therefor abandoned a release. Well, now that they have successfully released FUTURE COPS despite that master being below their standards, maybe they could reconsider.

Or do a 4K edition of BRIDE and include a BD of Part 2 as a bonus.

That's what Plaion did for the German release.

If CeX ever actually ship me the copy their website thinks they have, I kinda hope its this version even if its missing the booklet. That’s hilarious!

EDIT: Finally received one - the standard. Its funny, I’m genuinely kinda disappointed
