I haven't upgraded any of my Criterion Blu-Rays but I think this will be my first. I love this film. Such a haunting and entrancing film. The scene between Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski is absolutely mesmerizing.

I really hope this is one Criterion knocks out of the park because it can be a top tier ish level disc imo if done right.

I remember watching this and The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover for the first time back to back one random night.. Definitely one of the best and most memorable first watch double features i've ever had to say the least!

I've made a screenshot comparison between the Criterion BD, the 2019 Studiocanal BD (Éclair grade, 2K restoration from 4K scan) and the new Janus trailer of the 40th Anniversary 4K restoration. I didn't have the time to match the frames 100% but the intention was to show the color differences.

I love this film, and love the Curzon cover. I actually just watched the film again a few months ago, which was the US Criterion blu-ray. Looking forward to watching the 4K version in November.

I noticed that too. Apparently Curzon / Artificial Eye does that with all of their releases.

Criterion hasn't announced a 4K yet. Are you talking about the blu-ray artwork?

Yes, with Nastassja Kinski. The art work for the Criterion is available on the Blu-ray Forum website with Harry Dean Stanton on the cover.

That's a poster for the film. They haven't released any artwork for the 4K edition.

You maybe correct, but look at the first page of this thread. It doesn't look like a poster because the rear of the cover is shown. Regardless, I ordered the Curzon 4K version from Amazon UK.
