Costner had already shot a lot Part Three but took a pause before the opening of Part One. So hopefully he can strike some kind of deal to finish shooting Part Three and Part Four.

Surely this isn't coming straight-to-disc without a theatrical release, right? I guess this was just scheduled to go up.

Yeah, this would have just been queued to post on release day when the film released, but the delay changed that. My understanding of the situation is that the deal was already paid out to WB to do the service of releasing the movi theatrically, so it will still happen, they just decided to roll the dice and give it some more time. I still imagine they will find a spot this year, considering they’re taking it to Venice.

I'm hoping Part 2 gets a theatrical release in the
fall, perhaps October or November. Loved Part 1.
A Costner western is an absolute must on the
theatrical screen.

Actually filming on Part 3 started in May and production has paused a few times. Not a lot of it has been filmed, but hopefully funding can come through so we get to see Part 3 and 4. Sounds like Part 2 at least is getting a physical release, perhaps a short theatrical run but everything seems to be pointing to see how well the film is received when it debuts in September overseas.

Target probably realized their mistake and pulled it since it stated Walmart exclusive.

He briefly mentioned it in an interview on Extra w/Billy Bush. He's trying to figure it out since Chapter 2 is completed. He's still moving forward w/Chapter 3

Is this even happening still? He took it to Venice, presumably to shop for a different distributor than WB (who presumably no longer wants this, even solely as distributor) and so far as I can tell nobody else picked it up. He's about to start shooting in November as the headlining star on a movie he's producing and co-wrote so there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of movement on either Horizon Part 2 or Part 3 at the moment.

The more this goes on the more it looks likely whatever form Part 2 is in now is not the form we see it in when it eventually gets released. If WB isn't planning on releasing it at all (and it sure seems like they're not) and he's busy making Surf Horror flicks in the meantime instead of finishing Part 3 - I think when he finally gets back around to putting a bow on this project, it'll be a recut miniseries like it probably always should have been, and he'll probably sell whatever that is to some streamer, and it'll live there.

He's probably doing the surfer horror movie to pay-off the first two or pay for the next two.

All I know is I have the Walmart exclusive Steelbook on preorder from Target because everything about the HORIZON saga’s distribution makes 100% sense.

I think this film could be delayed to 2025.

I suspect we will get an official announcement soon on Chapter 2 perhaps by the end of the year, not sure if it will see a theatrical release or streaming followed by a physical/digital release. He will probably do a few films in the meantime to get funds as another person here mentioned to help pay for Chapters 3 and 4. In the meantime I hope we also finally see a 4K release of Dances With Wolves soon.
