Default My new Home theater

Don't be too critical please . I'm currently a mechanical engineer (junior year undergrad) with a small budget. My Home theater consists of my computer (all my CD's are ripped to .Flac ), my pioneer 819, my acesonic 510 speakers, and my newly purchased Blu-ray player (coming next week ).

As you can tell this isn't that great of a setup but it works for me in my financial situation. I will be moving it into my apartment for school next week, so this is my "at home setup".

For the record this setup blows away my old logitech z-5500 setup (hahah I know, laugh if you will).

Welcome...it looks great but make sure when you move that the wire mess isn't there like it is showing in the pictures.

Looks like A good start Jim . My concern would be the receiver on top of the tower & It taking A tumble to the floor !!

Hi Jim!

I have to 2nd. Brent's (crazyBLUE) concern about the placement of your receiver. Please get yourself some kind of stand to house all of your componants.

Regarding the wire management thing.....a stand will go a long way to take care of that issue as well.

Nice start though! Well done!

John

I agree with Brent and John about the receiver. It is in a very precarious position and not only can it fall, but the vibrations from the speaker will not help it either. As John has said, get a rack or something to house your electronics.

The rack will also make it easier to organize things and get the wired mess shown cleaned up.

I would get a piece of wood and install it onto your current TV stand. Then put your receiver there.

Nice system, BTW.

Not bad a really good start for a college grad. I'd suggest get an av rack. (I'm scared for your receiver ) THat way you could also hide those wires

But aside from that everything looks great

Thanks alot everyone. I'm moving into my aprtment next week for my junior year of school. I will def. invest in some a/v rack for my receiver (cuz its my lil baby ). Besides hiding the wires under carpet, does anyone have any suggestions to make it look clean?? BTW I cannot wait for lossless audio when my Blu-ray player comes in

For running speaker wire under carpet I use FLATWIRE speaker cable. It has a much lower profile than standard speaker wire, and, as such, is less noticeable.

Yes I have... Thanks for the advice. I'll be loving for a decent a/v rack today.

Default First two blu-rays

So I went to BB and got "the fast and the furious" for my first blu-ray. Yesterday I went to Sam's Club and saw "the rock" on blu-ray for $12, so that is my second . My blu-ray player is on its way and should be here in about a week .

Jim, Nice setup! I posted some suggestions about wire management tubing and sub connection in your gallery. If you have any questions, let me know. D.

Very nice setup Jim.

Question for you, what kind of video ouput (HDMI, DVI, VGA, ...) and video card are you using for the computer? I have been wanting to hook my computer tower up to my tv for a while now.
