If I buy the director's cut BD before Furya comes out, I'm sure they'll do a "U"HD disc right afterwards... ![]() |

Holy Moley! According to Orbitdvd, this 4k just shipped out to me, along with Torso 4k and Friday the 13th 2009 4k.
Is it just me, or did Arrow roll this latest 4k LE batch out way ahead of schedule? Three WEEKS early, all three titles??? Awesome! I'm stoked. Last edited by DaylightsEnd; 08-27-2024 at 09:15 PM. |

So wait...Amazon will match Barnes n Noble's current Arrow 50% off video sale price of $24.95 for Arrow's Friday the 13th 2009 4k uhd release, but they won't do it for Chronicles of Riddick 4k, which is also $24.95 at B&N? Weird.

In typical Arrow fashion, this presentation is pretty outstanding as I expected. I felt some of the early Helion Prime interior scenes were a bit too hot looking, but I’m nit picking.
I’m not a reviewer but I can safely say all will be happy with it. Filmic and beautiful. |

Filming for Riddick: Furya has began. https://movieweb.com/vin-diesel-retu...-furya-images/
The pictures give me a bit of a Mad Max vibe but let's see. |

I think I'm done with them for all Arrow preorders. Looks like I'll be hit for $33 on this one.

My copy arrived from Diabolik but haven't had a chance yet to open it. The foil slipcover is nice. |

Yeah they’re still there. I’ve watched this so many times that I don’t even notice them anymore but my gf(first time watch) said out loud “weird cut there.” I couldn’t unsee them after that. That old Twohy optional introduction where he talks about the frames and cuts etc is included again as a special feature. I’m very pleased with this release. The HDR is phenomenal IMO. |

And there's a ton of extensions and scenes added. It's not just a few times. That's a lot of jump cuts. And the director's cut really is the only way to watch the film imo. Last edited by mar3o; 08-31-2024 at 05:30 PM. |

The cuts are part of the extended version of the film I wouldn't want them removed at this point, to be critical of the disc because of them seems like grasping but I'm sure first time watchers might lose their **** over it and return the set which is funny to me.

And that's the point about returns - many first-time viewers might think there's something wrong with their copy of the film if it stutters like that. I honestly used to think I had a bad blu-ray disc until I found out that it was an unavoidable (at the time) issue with that cut. My TV from 2016 can interpolate extra frames when setting it to smooth motion (which I don't do, but it works). I imagine they could have highlighted the jump points in software and generated fill-in frames to smooth over those cuts if they tried. They just likely didn't want to bother with the extra time and cost. I don't think my opinion is grasping. If it's an issue that bothers me, then it's an issue. Those jumps are very distracting and once you see them they can be very annoying. I own the set now and I'm keeping it. I just wish they would have tried to correct those jumps. Again, we've all seen many cheapo horror films with added scenes put back in seamlessly. This is a case where they would have had to probably go back and re-assemble the director's cut again, which of course they didn't want to do. Which is why I feel AI or other mastering software might have been useful to fill in those gaps seamlessly. I also wonder what version the negative conforms to - the director's cut or the theatrical? Usually isn't it the theatrical that the negative is cut to? So how do we end up with this director's cut in 4k? Last edited by mar3o; 08-31-2024 at 09:08 PM. |
