Australia Hardware (M.A.R.K. 13) 4K UHD (1990)

We are thrilled to reveal Umbrella’s brand new 4K restoration of the red-haze and radiated, man vs machine, sci-fi slasher showdown, HARDWARE from 1990 starring Dylan McDermott and Stacey Travis.

"This is what you want"

A world soaked in dust, sweat, and blood; infrared and body heat, a metallic grim reaper, and Iggy Pop, Motörhead, and Ministry on the radio. Absolute unbridled madness. This apocalyptic-cyberpunk-western-horror-fusion takes Alien, mashes it with The Terminator, smears it in red dirt, and turns the volume to ten!

"This is what you get"

We are ecstatic to continue our exploration of one-of-a-kind nineties cinematic worlds, from the punk-infused outback of Tank Girl, to Lord of Illusions' magical noir underbelly, and the gooey streets of Dinohatten in Super Mario Bros. Now, the wastelands of Hardware. Join us as we head into The Zone and uncover what treasures await… undiscovered for decades.

Mark our words, the M.A.R.K. 13 will return!

Weren't Arrow about to release this and other Richard Stanley films? I remember Stanley had some legal problems and Arrow dropped him like a hot potato without even waiting for the trial or verdict as is the way these days.

I'm all about this. Umbrella, Arrow, Shout, whomever brings it on down and drops it in uhd at this point, I'll scoop it. I'm sure if it winds up with a solid 4k uhd hdr master, other labels in various territories will be bringing it to bear. Gimme.

I feel the same way about Dust Devil, but am in fear of exactly which cut might actually make it to 4k uhd.

Will definitely be grabbing this, doubly so if FiM's handling it like The NeverEnding Story.

Umbrella's 4K encoding has been all over the place but some of their 4K releases show they can do a good job encoding if they try

Good for Umbrella for not giving in to ridiculous blacklisting efforts. Arrow's loss is Umbrella's gain. Day 1 preorder

This'll be a coin toss regarding mastering and compression. I'm still grabbing it. Same as their upcoming Pulse 4k J-horror release. These titles are too important to pass on, and Umbrella are first out of the gate with them both, whereas others had already either backed off or are dragging their feet, so Umbrella will win my coin here.

There's a reason Umbrella's blurb quoted in the OP omits the director's name.

I'm still thrilled about their 4k release of The Last Wave, despite its PQ limitations.

I'd go with Dead End Drive-In for their best 4K release so far, since PQ was pretty great and it was a cut of the film never seen since the VHS days

I still have the soundtrack to this on tape somewhere. Always thought it was a bad ass flick. Can't wait.

As per Dr West's post, since the negative was found in London then I'd assume the work is being done there on Umbrella's behalf, so an FiM encode is still quite possible.

Depends on who Umbrella's working with, the negative being in London has no bearing on that.
