The War Games will be getting a colorization on December 23rd, with a Blu-Ray release probably coming afterwards:

On one hand, the colorization does look great. On the other hand...........4 hour serial chopped down to a hour and a half.

Yeah, The War Games is certainly a favorite of mine (and plenty of other fans), but it is full of fluff, with lots of captures/re-captures. Now, it's really FUN fluff, so I'm hoping that the 90 minutes we're left with in this new version will still be entertaining. I'm looking forward to it!

Yet not the 2023 Christmas special, which received a separate release in the UK before it was included in the Season 1 (Series 14) set? Perhaps the Season 1 set made The Church on Ruby Road standalone redundant, but then I'm skipping this release because I fully expect it will be in the Season 2 (Series 15) set, so I wonder why you're adding this one while skipping the 2023 one.

I was hoping for a comparison between the UK & U.S. releases of the 60th Anniversary Specials, but the review of the U.S. release makes no mention of the UK release a year ago, which I imported along with The Church on Ruby Road & later Season 1. The likely difference, as with virtually all UK vs. U.S. Doctor Who BDs, is that the UK discs are in their original 1080i50 broadcast format while the U.S. discs are converted to 1080p24 for full compatibility with all BD players. If your home theater can handle 1080i50 content, or even 2160p50 content (apparently the shooting spec of all "Disney Who" episodes -- that's how Disney+ outputs them on a properly configured Apple TV 4K with "keep frame rate" activated feeding a TV that can handle 50Hz content; I suspect BBC iPlayer in the UK does that too), you can handle the UK discs & the U.S. discs may be a downgrade for you.

UK releases from the 60th Anniversary Specials on are also nominally Region B-locked to satisfy Disney, but the lock is so trivial to bypass (just press Top Menu once at the "invalid region" screen, not Stop or multiple Top Menu presses like the "Top Menu hack" seen on some other region-locked BDs), and faster than the actual Region B intro with its commercials, that most of them are recorded here as region-free. I expect Joy to the World will follow suit.

7 is complete. Season 25 comes out next month in the U.S. Already out in the U.K.

Yes, when Series 15 (Season 2) gets a full release, it will replace Joy To The World in the OP.
