The Kill Bills are my favorite, with Pulp Fiction a close 2nd. Kill Bill has a lot going on - incredibly stylized action and filming, some great acting performances, and effectively a whole little world set up within the story with some very interesting morality questions. I revisit the Kill Bill films multiple times a year, and feel I catch something new each time.

Death Proof is certainly not up to the same quality standards as his best, but it was not a serious movie in the same way - it was a throwback to older, simpler movies designed around one concept. It was overly talky in parts, but I feel that it was that way purposefully to allow him to surprise the audience later on. We get so much talk about the inner-workings of the initial group of girls' social lives, only for them to be killed off in a minute-long scene. I know this will never be regarded as a classic of cinema, but I thought it was a lot of fun, and the car chase at the end is certainly high on the list of best chases ever.

okay, well i obviously have to watch kill bill again... ive watched it twice and thought it was ehh... as for deathproof.. i understand that it was supposed to be a 70's type movie... it just didnt do it for me... idk, to me it was just lame... entertained me for a lil then the whole buildup at the bar etc was just not necessary... i think if he stuck to movies like pulp, resevoir and i guess the first kill bill (cuz apparantly im the only one who didnt like it) then he would get over the hill as a GREAT director

I absolutely 1000% can't stand him or his movies. When I envision him, I see him spooging all over the master film as he revels in how much he loves himself. No one thinks he's greater than he thinks he is.

I disagree with you asserting your opinion as fact, and I counter it with my own assertion that my opinion is fact! Ha ha!

I can certainly see why many would think him overrated but in his defense, his first films came out and broke rules of conventional filmmaking. That's why so many loved his work. The buzz on him was incredible because suddenly here was a small independant guy like Rodriguez, who did things his way. He didn't make his films for everyone... otherwise they'd be more like the run-of-the-mill hollywood studio tupe stuff. His stuff was over the top, ultra-violent, cut-to-the-chase dialogue that he had fun doing.

If I had the means to make a film, would I make Titanic? No. Would I do my own thing? Hell yes. Tarrantino broke so many rules that many up and coming directors, followed suit. Death Proof is not meant to look like a hollywood blockbuster, it's an homage to those tacky mindless B-movies we used to see in the Drive-in's on a Saturday night with the main feature. He put in the rough edits, crackling, jumping frames, scratched print look and feel of those films and did it brilliantly but you'd need to see those old films to appreciate what he did there. It's hardcore stuff, no doubt about it. Overblown, blood squirting all over the place kind of films. It's what he gets a bang out of and more power to him, I say. However, if his style offends you, and it certainly can with many people, don't watch. If he ever goes the typical mainstream studio type way of filmmaking, I would consider that selling out and he'd get lost in among all the others.

Certainly there are great directors. Academy Award winning directors who do fantastic work but here's a little guy who has the imagination of a kid but with the filmmaking savvy to put the ideas into play. Love him or hate him, he does things his way and you have to respect the man for at least that quality, whether you like his films or not.

I was saying that that's what your post basically was. You said robertthunder was a fake artsy type for saying that Tarantino was one of the greatest filmmakers in history, then you say Tarantino sucks.

I'd argue that both his and your posts are guilty of asserting an opinion as a fact.

I'm a fake artsy type?? No my friend i'm not. I find his films are the essence of why we go to the cinemas. From the dialogue to the cinematography he can entertain the hell out of people with not a god damn thing happening on the screen. Movies are there to entertain and Tarantino does an excellent job at it. I could give two shits about what people think about my taste in films; I like films because I am a filmmaker have been for 16 years and I know my history and thorough filmmaking teq for me to make a educated conclusion on why I think Tarantino is among the best directors in film. So go back to your class and have fun, and maybe you should spend some more time learning and a little less time being an arrogent "fake" film expert.

BoschRock did you enjoy IB?? I hope you had a wonderful time watching the film. But just to save face your going to say it sucked and some un-educated answer about how it's demining to jews or some ****ing stupid thing.

I'm not going to say the film did not carry it's share of flaws, but I hope Tarantino has managed to squeeze his way up in your books.

I just thought you'd be all over this thread since friday... which you wern't so I thought you must have realized you were being a ****ing ass clown and decided to stop bashing a brilliant filmmaker.

note* If you can't tell you ****ING FAKE ARTSY ASS CLOWN! i'm still a bit pissed about you calling me a fake artsy type. Let's get the review. I'll gladly post mine after I can rebuttle on yours.

Natural Born Killers was the worse movie I've ever seen, and to this date, the only movie where I've walked out of the theater.

I did like Kill Bill tho. But that's about the only one I've liked.
