Paramount Guy Ritchie's MobLand (Paramount+)

Quote:
Tom Hardy (Inception, RocknRolla), Helen Mirren (1923) and Pierce Brosnan (Mamma Mia!) are in final negotiations to star in the Paramount+ series Guy Ritchie‘s The Associate (w/t), Deadline has learned. The drama series was meant to be an offshoot of Showtime‘s Ray Donovan titled The Donovans though as the project progressed it’s no longer connected to the franchise.

Paramount+ declined to comment for this story.

With the most powerful clients in Europe, The Donovans will see family fortunes and reputations at risk, odd alliances unfold, and betrayal around every corner; and while the family might be London’s most elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what’s in store tomorrow.

The one-hour drama from Showtime/MTV Studios and 101 Studios, follows two generations of gangsters, the businesses they run, the complex relationships they weave, and the man they call upon to fix their problems.

Production on this has begun, also, it looks like they are going to change the title. But they don't have a new title yet.

Quote:
Tom Hardy (Venom: The Last Dance), Pierce Brosnan (Die Another Day), and Helen Mirren (The Queen) are officially set as the leads of Guy Ritchie’s new Showtime and Paramount+ series, which is yet untitled. Production of the global crime series, previously known as The Associate (w/t), is currently underway in London.

Deadline previously revealed exclusively in October that the trio was in final negotiations for series regular roles.

Hardy will star as “Harry Da Souza,” a professional conciliator on behalf of the Harrigan family; Brosnan will play “Conrad Harrigan,” the head of a very successful Irish crime family based in London and Harry’s boss; Mirren will play “Maeve Harrigan,” Conrad’s wife and the Harrigan family matriarch.

The logline reveals the show is “an electrifying, new global crime series centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal ‘fixer’ charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”

Default I am...

so, very much, absolutely there!

Now if they could only get "The Gentlemen" Season 2 out over on NETFLIX...

...and since we're talking about Tom Hardy... where the heck is "Taboo" Season 2?

The star-studded cast of Guy Ritchie’s crime drama MobLand is adding another notable name.

Janet McTeer will be part of the Paramount+ series, which is set to premiere March 30. The Emmy and two-time Oscar nominee joins an ensemble led be Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren.

MobLand centers on a London-based Irish crime family headed by Brosnan’s Conrad Harrigan, that’s fighting for power within a global syndicate. Mirren plays his wife, Maeve — “the brains behind the charm,” as Brosnan’s character describes her in the series trailer — and Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, the family’s fixer.

McTeer (The Old Man, The Menu) will play a character named Kat, who is “as charming as she is violent,” according to the character’s description. “Crime bosses from London to Beijing are anxious never to cross swords with her.”

The MobLand cast also features Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Jasmine Jobson, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts (Fate: The Winx Saga), Lisa Dwan and Emily Barber. MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios produce the series. Ritchie executive produces with Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, Jez Butterworth, Ronan Bennett, Kris Thykier, Ivan Atkinson, Hardy, Dean Baker, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.

McTeer earned Oscar nominations for her work in Tumbleweeds (for which she won a Golden Globe) and Albert Nobbs and an Emmy nod for her role in the HBO movie Into the Storm. Her recent work also includes Netflix’s Kaos and Ozark. She is repped by MGMT Entertainment and Curtis Brown in the U.K.

Brosnan was sooo good in Black Bag, I hope he brings that same kind of intensity to this one.

Watched the first episode, it wasn't necessarily bad, just too formulaic and predictable. Meh, not for me.

For some reason I expected Jason Statham to show up. lol

If this is successful (and I really hope it will be) he's bound to make a cameo.

After the film The Gentlemen was an obvious homage to The Long Good Friday, we get another Ritchie project with echoes of TLGF. An Organized Crime drama set in London featuring Brosnan and Mirren with an Irish connection. I'm here for it.

I just finished the season one finale and I have to say I found this show quite disappointing. The writing was pretty weak. I didn’t care for most of the cast and the main storyline just wasn’t very compelling. It was honestly kind of a chore watching this week to week. I doubt I'll even bother watching season two if it gets renewed.

It's a fight to the death between scenery chewing and outrageous accents with only Paddy Considine doing anything resembling real acting. I wonder if Tom Hardy gave them a discount for recycling his Reggie Kray. Lots of fun though and I'll be watching the next series
