Figured a DVD would come out, but a Blu-ray is a nice surprise.

Oh wow. Haven’t watched this yet but the fact that a Blu-ray is coming I may just order it and watch it that way. Gotta support TMNT in HD. Plus depending on the content, Paramount+ can be frustrating with quality.

Can't get the 87 2003 or 2012 cartoons on Blu Ray but this one can make it make sense Paramount

Is this show as good as the recent animated movie? Glad they're putting this out either way.

OH YEAH! Love this show!

It's honestly (to me) one of the best TMNT series since the 1987 series and I still can't get enough of it. I think I'll put this on my Christmas wishlist.

Now bring on the 2012 and 2018 series!

Well 87 and 03 were finished in SD iirc. 87 will need a TNG style restoration with numerous animation fixes.

It saddens me that this one got a blu ray release before the 87, 2003, and 2012 versions.

The DVD set for this is a MOD DVD-R so the Blu-ray will be the only pressed physical release for this show

This is also only the fourth Nickelodeon animated series to receive a US Blu-ray, the others being Avatar The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, and Star Trek Prodigy

Technically 87 got on in Germany but these were workprint versions that weren't finished (or just poor upscaled):

Where is it mentioned that it's DVD-R?

Bottom of the spine, that is the DVD logo used for manufactured on demand releases, Nickelodeon used it for their old Amazon MOD releases

It's a shame it's getting a DVD-R. With how popular this incarnation is and the franchise combined, you think the DVD would also be pressed (and sold at retail). I'll buy both formats definitely, but it's a missed opportunity.

I'll leave you with this advice; if you make the Blu-ray sell, it'll probably convince Paramount to look into releasing at the very least the 2012 and Rise series on Blu next.

You can forget about the 87 series ever receiving a Blu-ray; the original negatives, as far as everyone knows, are gone. Master tapes are all that exist. Your best shot is to hope that Fred Wolf miraculously has the negatives in his possession.

Strange they give this a Blu-ray (even if MOD) while Transformers Earthspark was DVD only (tho pressed). There's probably a ratings reason, but we need more TF shows on BD.

I'm curious - why buy both? The contents are more than likely going to be identical, wouldn't a Blu-ray just effectively be a better version of the DVD?

I still love DVDs and my bedroom has a CRT TV and a DVD player (plus a VCR AND a DVD/VCR combo) and I have no intention of replacing it. Meanwhile, my living room has a Blu-ray player and an HDTV.

It all depends on where I want to watch it. Some days you want to watch the Blu-ray in the living room, other days you want to watch the DVD in your bedroom.

They are the German broadcast edited versions and all in SD.

I really need to check out this show. Mutant Mayhem was surprisingly good, so definitely keen to give this a try.

I've been rather annoyed with them for not releasing 2012 on blu-ray, but after reading that list of the (very) few Nickelodeon shows they have actually released on blu-ray, I kinda get it now. Somewhat. I caved and bought the DVD set for megacheap, so hopefully that means a blu-ray set will be released at some point.

So this is based off the most recent movie and not the cartoon that was made a few years ago?
