It looked fine to me. The did blacks in the ending credits looked gray or something?
Yeah, the credits were definitely not pure black on my OLED

I just picked this up the other day. I need to do a 4K double feature with Twister and Twisters.

Seems to be common with Universal releases. Sony also does that. I rewatched JW Dominion recently and it had raised black levels. Not always easy to spot as a lot of people like that shadow detail but once you see it in post credits it's easy to spot. That is provided it's OLED and a pitch black room.

I can also crush blacks on my OLED. That's beyond the point.

Never knew Universal holds NA rights. Is it better than the WB release?

Reviews, particularly audio reviews, are generally subjective. That reviewer felt that, subjectively, the soundtrack rates a "5".

For the record, on my Denon, B&W, Velodyne 7.2.2 Atmos system calibrated using Denon Audessy at THX levels in a medium size room with a high ceiling, I also would give it a "5".

I agree. The film sounded great to me on my comparatively poor audio setup (Sennheiser soundbar with external sub) after considerably raising my reference volume. I don’t think this is as much an issue as many think since not all audio is mastered at the same level. I was shocked actually at how good it sounded. Had I heard all the negative feedback before my copy was in transit, I would’ve canceled my order. Disney’s Atmos mixes are poor, Twisters is much better.

Did you have to raise your volume on your calibrated system as well?

I think that was to me. If so, yes a bit. Not as much as I raise the volume on most Disney/Buena Vista recordings.

Back when THX was more of a thing, there was considerably more standardization in audio mastering. Most of the houses calibrated to THX standards, even if they didn't stamp the logo on the box. One could reliably use the same or about the same volume level at home and be fairly certain they were hearing some close approximation of the filmmaker's intended mix.

Seems to be all over the place now.

Theres no way this and something like 300 are the same score. It lacks dynamics, punch and in volume

Ummm, ya think? I have it on good authority that this and The Sound of Music are not the same score either.

Bolded for emphasis.

The mix is the mix. It is what was intended. You are free to like or not like whatever you want.

Sound mixers would disagree with you on that.

You're the reason for the loudness wars of the late '90s/early 2000s. Just raise the overall recording level! That sounds better, right???

Never mind it flattens dynamic range and pushes everything into distortion.

Raise your volume knob. That's what it's there for.

No. That just raises the volume. It doesnt magically add dynamics that werent there. Lemme guess Atmouse was never a thing with disney releases either right?
