I bought a new TV (Westinghouse 42" 1080p) and have started having syncing issues with my audio and video. They lose syncing about 30-45 minutes into watching a DVD or Blu-Ray through my PS3.
I called Best Buy to return the TV and he suggested I try the new HDMI 1.3 cable before I return it because it has a built in audio/video syncing feature. Is this true? I don't want to make trip after trip to ultimately bring the TV back. I would rather get the cable so I don't have to take my TV off the wall and mount a replacement. |

Do you have another tv you can hook everything up to, and see if it happens on another set. If it doesn't that tells you its the tv.
Most cables are 1.3 compliant. Its pretty hard to find one that isn't. |

I got the cable from monoprice, it was a normal 10ft one. I didn't get one of their 1.3 cables.
I did hook it up to another TV for a week or so and it seemed fine. I called the BB to return it and he suggested I try the newer 1.3 HDMI cable because it has a built in A/V syncing feature that the normal HDMI cables don't. It is BB and he could just be talking out of his behind. |

That's the standard answer you'll get from Best Buy. If it worked fine with the other TV, it's most likely not the cable. I think HDMI 1.3 is Best Buy's new best friend, as it gives them one more "solution" to keep their returns down for that day.

I really could use some input. I feel like information overload, lol. I just went to Best Buy to replace my TV. The guy told me my syncing issues is because the 2 HDMI sources (PS3 going out and the TV coming in) are not both 1.3. He said the 1.3 from the PS3 is going to the 1.2b TV and that is causing the audio to lose sync with the video.
He also said that all HDMI cables are 1.3 and it's the sources that are not. He said a 1.3 cable would do the same thing as a cable bought a year ago. Is this all true and seem accurate? He told me this has been a known issue about 1080p TV sets for awhile and there really isn't much I can do. |

Just tell him, "I'm not satisfied with my purchase and I want to return/exhange it"
You need not say nothing more. Don't give them any room to try and give you a hard time. If they start just ask for a manager. |

If you've tried it on another set and it worked fine, it's the TV you bought. Period. He doesn't know what he's talking about. If he gives you anymore shit, just tell him you just want to return it because you weren't happy with the service you received, and you'll go elsewhere. Unless he's a supervisor or manager, he makes/loses no money off of your purchase/return, so I don't know why he's giving you such a hard time. Probably new . . . they're the only people that seem to give a shit about their job at Best Buy, until they see what a crap job it is.
