India/Bollywood Kanguva (2024)

Anyone else watched this yet? It is for sure one of the most bonkers movies you'll see this year, or any year!

Kanguva 2 is scheduled for release in 2027. It will be interesting to see how they tie up everything together.

I was going to see this for the 3D, until I learned it's close to $20 for 1 3D movie ticket. $5 less though, than the last Indian Action 3D film that was playing at Cinemark, which was charging $25 for a ticket, which I also refused to go see on the stance of never overpaying for a movie ticket over a certain amount.

I've seen quite a few Bollywood 3D theatrical movies over the years when they were not being greedy with the ticket prices and they were generally entertaining with good 3D most times. About 6+ 3D films over the years, but these pricing are ending that trend.

If this was $14, that's my limit but I would've seen it. Instead, they pushed the price too far, no sale.

Sadly, none of these 3D Bollywood or Indian films playing at Cinemark are on blu ray 3D.

I saw this last Thursday. The beginning was interesting with the science fiction aspect. The scenes in the past are where I lost interest.

[Show spoiler]Kanga is Superman in most scenes. He can single handedly kill dozens (hundreds?) of enemies with jungle ambushes. He can wrestle and kill crocodiles. He can take a severe beating but still hang out the back of a flying plane without falling. Conversely, a wimpy kid can stab him through with a sword. There were a few scenes with the kid where he is crying mama or Kanga so many times that it became ludicrous and for me annoying.

This is the first part of at least one more movie so there is a cliffhanger rather than an ending. Also whatever happened to the 25,000 Roman soldiers? They just disappeared after their commander was killed.

The movie is most notable for me in that it was played so loud that my ears were ringing well after I left the theater. I don't mind loud but this was a bit much.

Maybe... if Black Panther OR Kraven involved parallel timelines separated by almost 1,000 years.

These films tend to have great action scenes. But thanks for the info there. The sound at the theater must have been cranked to full blast/painful to the ears.

I watched the Tamil version, the sound was generous but not overwhelming at my screening.

That's good. So it boils down to the theater as the factor, more than the sound from the film. The people setting up the projection are responsible for the quality adjustments in the end before pressing start. Though these days, I think everything is on an automated timer.

At Cinemark, if there's a problem, sadly unless I get up to let the theater know, nothing will be taken care of or fixed and it'll play like that probably for the whole film. Thankfully I only had to get up to let them know about 6 times in the 20+ years I've been going there.

I saw the Tamil version as well. I asked one of the employees once about the louder than average audio and was told it had something to do with the contract/license to play Indian movies. I've seen 8-10 Indian films this year and all were quite loud but Kanguva won the decibel contest.

Interesting they wanted the audio blasted at full power past 10, probably to 11 from the sound of it. I know if I listen to anything too loud, my ears start whining in a loud high pitch. If I press it closed by covering the ear, the high pitch quickly fades in seconds, suggesting it probably reached its tolerance.

Maybe next time you go watch an Indian movie, take some earplugs or something?

I saw this out of curiosity, and it was also insanely loud in my theater. I've read that Indian movies tend to be played super loud in theaters, and now I know it's true.

Anyway, it's a pretty bad movie. Just a loud, noisy, endless barrage of action, to the point that the action loses all meaning and becomes a blur. Did I mention that it was way too loud? I resorted to wadding up napkins and sticking them in my ears. I'll definitely bring real earplugs next time I see one of these.

This was way loud even for the regualr Indian move standards. Producers acknowledged it and instructed theaters to reduce Audio by 2dB. Not sure if US theaters following this. This movie is colossal flop in India.
