Every other movie I have works fine, but for some reason, all Warner Bros films are completely silent. The menus have sound, but the films themselves do not.
Serial number is MBP5220F. |

You provided a model number of MBP5220F. Make sure Blu-ray player is set for bitstream if using an A/V receiver. Make sure Blu-ray player is set to decode all audio as LPCM if using a Smart TV or any type of TV with a HDMI input (this should solve problem since some TV’s do not accept Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master audio and LPCM internal decoding must be turned on in Blu-ray player. Try power cycling Blu-ray player with power cord pulled from wall for 30 seconds. Last resort do a factory reset on Blu-ray player.
Makes sure the latest firmware update is installed. https://www.magnavox.com/en/products...bp5220ff7.html |

Older & low cost players have issues with playing Dolby True-HD audio direct. Many Warner and Paramount releases use True-HD audio and it sounds like your Warner discs fall within that category. Almost all AVRs can handle DD+/True-HD audio but if the player can't play back the lossy Dolby transcode layer within the True-HD layer, you will have to use bitstream or set the player to decode audio as PCM to the unit.
If the WB BD has DTS-MA audio (which all players can handle) yet has no sound, it could be down to two things. If hooked directly to your TV, not all of them can play DTS audio and the player needs to be set to encode PCM. If going to the A/V receiver and has no sound, its likely down to the unit not functioning properly or being very old (some early HDMI receivers circa. 2006-7 only accept standard DTS and it's variants but NOT DTS Master Audio). Switching to LPCM should be the fix. If not, last resort is factory reset after trying all other methods.
I would suggest reading the owners manual that can be downloaded and making decisions for yourself on what to do. I do not have the time to download and read the owners manual. I never owned a Magnavox Blu-ray player but the steps I provided and other people provided should fix the issue. If playing DVD discs are fine then since DVD is 99% lossy audio, then switching to LPCM internal decoding in Blu-ray player has a 99.9999% success rate in fixing the audio problem when connected to a TV over HDMI. |
