I just purchased a Pioneer KRP500 and I receive it on Thursday...can't wait!!
I just want to go over some details to make sure I break this in correct... I play either a dvd or the break in files from this site: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1053444 for 150 hour straight. During that period, I use the recommended settings mentioned above. After the 150 hour break in period is done, then I use the other settings listed on the front page. Now, after that, I am planning on calibratring it using this: http://www.controlcal.com/ does that sound good to everyone? Am I missing anything? Also, does anyone have what settings I should use for the calibration from controlcal? I will look on their site also. |

I haven't applied the ControlCal "patch" yet, I'm waiting till I move into my new house. With Control Cal, you should recieve some recommended settings with the purchase. ControlCal is a member on this board, shoot him some questions. Last edited by scweb13; 09-01-2009 at 02:30 PM. |

Cool, so, after I get the stuff from ControlCal, I would just basically follow the instructions using the recommended settings? Then, I could tweak as I see fit?
Are there explanations of what each modification does? |

Looks like you have it all lined up just right.
Personally I put the color slides on a USB flash drive. No point in putting an extra 150 hours of use on a DVD or Blu-ray player. Quote:

That's what I'm thinking of, usb that is...so, I'm assuming there is some sort of loop slideshow I can do from the TV to loop it?

Downstairs I have a sony s350 for now (until my oppo comes in). does anyone hae any experience creating a loop of the images from a flash drive? Or, should I just burn the stuff to a cdr and play it through my blu ray player on some sort of loop?

I burned the break-in disc to a cdr and played it on my upconverting dvd player. The disc will loop itself, so there is no need to do anything other than press play.
After I unboxed my 500M, I set it up in the corner of the living room and connected the dvd player to it. I played the break-in disc continuously for 7 days with no problem. ![]() |
