Long shot but looking for any suggestions for PS5 titles that are similar in story and play to Metal Gear Solid V. I still dig out my PS4 copy to play, love to replay the missions and all the side-ops.
The other games I like are Gran Turismo 7 and occasionally NBA2K and the College Football game. But I need a new mission game. Thought about giving Silent Hill 2 a try since I've liked the Resident Evil games over the years. Should I just wait for GTA6? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers! |

Ghost Recon Wildlands also lets you sneak flat on the ground, crouched stealth, drive vehicles, or go in guns blazing.
A few more I played but have to remember what they were over the years similar to MGSV. The game MGSV itself was really good, but either Kojima Ltd or Konami have sabotaged that game on my PS4, forcing me to log in at all times online in order to access my save files. Really frustrating, because the game no longer functions after 50+ hours of effort and completion of the game save files, completely lost at this point. I don't play games online so I'm out of luck. There is no solution found. If I try to load a game while offline, it just goes to a black screen and that's it. Nothing else till I connect online. It has to be an inside joke IMO because when I try to navigate the menus, it ends up locking me into a screen to purchase coins for the sea base with real money, which I refuse to do. There is no way to exit that screen with any of the buttons. It happens more often than not. |

I feel like there's very few games in the 3rd person action stealth genre this gen to really recommend but Hitman is definitely a solid suggestion as you got both stealth or guns blazing if you want to most times like MGS V. Er, the only other game maybe that i can recommend in a similar ilk is Death Stranding. However to be clear, Walking Simulator... Er... Death Stranding can be a bit of an acquired taste story wise and how you get into it but there's stealth elements there you can get.
It's a damn shame Sony never bothered to remake Syphon Filter yet. Its easily the best IP to remake for this genre. |

Yeah, the Syphon Filter games could have used the remaster treatment like Aspyr did for Tomb Raider and Soul Reaver games at least.
In MGSV, I like that you can lay flat on the ground to really be tougher to hit by enemies as you crawl for cover. And also scope out the situation safely. The horse is nice, along with the vehicles and small mech. Cool the game lets you hang from the side of the horse for cover. Neat the game lets you play as other recruits too. I remember that big mansion house with a lot of enemies in there to battle, and then the big tank truck at the end as I was trying to leave. Or going into that cliff village and lots of enemies to survive in there too. I took a Rambo approach for both of those. The Skullz were my least favorite aspect of that game. That's why I don't want to replay from the beginning, having to get past them again each time. That was the cheapest aspect of MGSV. Konami has abandoned the game unfortunately as I cannot access my save files anymore without constantly being online for their purchase offers of micro sale items on the dock bases BS. |

If you're looking forward to GTA6, may I recommend the Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on PS5? Its an amazing open world RPG with tons of side missions and world events to do. Combat is pretty satisfying and can be approached lots of different ways. The cars are pretty fun once you get used to their handling, and there are racing events... Not to mention the Phantom Liberty DLC that is included, is basically a whole other campaign added in. Silent Hill 2 Remake is also a fantastic game, absolutely dripping in atmosphere. |

If you're looking for pure stealth, you can't go wrong with the original Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. It's not for everyone, given its pacing, but it's a true third person stealth experience. If you want a bit more action focus in your stealth experience, or at least freedom to complete your objectives even if you exit stealth, then I would recommend both Splinter Cell: Conviction and Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
