Jet Li movies - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone who owns the Jet Li classic movies such as Defender, Twin Warriors, Fist of Legend etc are lucky.

Last week I played my Twin Warriors disc on a PS3 Blu-Ray player. And it was unscaled to 1080hd! No stupid grains, it was really good!

If you have the Dragon Dnyasty version, can you test if that also up-scales to 1080.

I wouldn't call them lucky as the Fist of Legend is the cut US version. My Father Is A Hero (The Enforcer) is also cut and only has the English dubbed track. The Bodyguard From Beijing (The Defender) is cut, non-anamorphic, and only has an English dub track only.

I'd rather wait for the uncut HK releases which will have the original language and better picture quality.

As long as your BD player is set to upconvert DVDs then they will be displayed at 1080p.

I'd buy Once Upon a Time in China Trilogy from Kam & Ronson/Joy Sales/Fortune Star via Hong Kong release. Same goes for HERO.
To hell with USA companies changing films to dumb them down.
Majority of Hong Kong and Chinese films are imported sans the International dumbed down cut. I even own the Edko Region 3 NTSC 2-Disc DVD with full bitrate DTS-ES of House of Flying Daggers.

, IT'S AN IMPORT SO IT MUST BE A BOOTLEG AND NOT A LEGIT RELEASE! Idiots.

Every Region 1/0 NTSC DVD I've played in my PS3 upcscales to 1080p. The only DVDs that will not upscale are the ones that can not be played on the PS3 which are any that Region 2,3,4,5, and 6 and/or PAL formatted.

Exactly. No use seeing a cut movie with a dub track only.

Fearless blu-ray is pretty solid, the hk release of fearless is a top notch transfer include 7.1` lossless hd sound. u.s. one is 5.1

I think uk has danny the dog which i think is jet li best acting film to date.

Hero is also out soon but the transfer is not sure whether is good or bad but definite a good film by jet li.

Wait for a HK release of HERO since idiot bum****istan Miramaxe gave lossless audio to the DUB track and lossy 640kbps to the ORIGINAL audio. No purchase from me.
I'm glad Hong Kong is Region A!

Damn right I'm buying the USA FEARLESS! Well, eventually.

I ownn 3 version of Hero DVD, China, HK and U.S. The HK version is far better one offer better picture and sound, the hk dvd version does look decent in my tv.

I use DDDHouse for the vast majority of my Hong Kong release purchases.
I own the Edko 2-Disc with full DTS-ES bitrate audio for House of Flying Daggers.
I'm even considering importing The Warlords, Red Cliff I & II although all three are blind buys. Yes I do prefer original intended audio and subtitles are like second nature to me.

I not sure whether is from edko but the bit rate in the hk was higher and offer dts while other version doesn't.

I sure they will come to blu-ray soon, they just try to release the best selling titles such as once upon a time in china, bruce lee, and jackie chan classic.

But don't be high hope, cause there's issue with old film transfer in hk, they just simply can't keep up the hd quality. and is over price $30+

I still say the best way to own Fist of Legend is the Dragon Dynasty release. I know the last scene has been cut and the title credits are from the awful original English release but otherwise it's the best English friendly version to own. The only other option that I'm aware of for English speakers is the Mei Ah VCD which I own and well, it's a VCD so you know what your getting.

Yes the HK release of Hero is from Edko. They make nice releases. I have them as well. Get Red Cliff 1/2, they are fantastic. They have both DTHD and DTS-Master Audio. I have The Warlords import disc and am considering upgrading to the BR. It's a very good film as well.
