Nice cover. I need this for the collection. The ye olde ITV recording was watched ad nauseum in our house.

I must have seen the trailer for the second Care Bears movie a hundred times, as it was on the start of every RCA/Columbia Real Ghostbusters VHS tape. Strangely, I never even consciously thought about there ever even being a first film. And it turns out that there's a third one as well?

Who are Capelight? Never heard of them, are they a new company?

Negative. I have no clue how long they've been around but I've been purchasing a release here & there for 18 months or longer. Mostly mediabooks. So far I've been very pleased with the quality of there releases.

Capelight are a German distributor, but they started branching out into other territories, eg UK.

I'm actually glad this is coming out. Animated kids' films that aren't Disney seem to only wind up as streaming fodder if by some miracle they actually get a HD master.

Personally I'm still hoping for a complete Land Before Time set!

Any chance this will get a standard release? Being shy of £30 for this is a bit of a joke.

Well if they follow their German overpriced mediabook model, possibly.

Has anyone purchased this yet? Curious about the quality of the transfer and what special features are included. I haven't been able to find a review of it online nor any information about it other than trailer and "special features" included. The Blu-ray running time is different than the DVD running time, so I'm wondering if this is due to PAL conversion...I read a comment from someone regarding the original opening being edited as well?

I'm assuming the film was released in mono, but the soundtrack album was stereo. It would be really nice to have the soundtrack remixed (or at least the Carole King opening and ending) in stereo.

The theatrical trailer (and a few for other Capelight releases) is the only bonus on the disc, but the writings in the mediabook are pretty good, covering the beginnings of the franchise and Nelvana and about the production/release of the film.

The MGM print of the film is used so it is missing the opening Samuel Goldwyn logo and accompanying brief section of the score, but other than that it's unedited. A few people mention the end credits being different, but I'm pretty sure these are the original theatrical ones and it was the original VHS releases that had slightly different credits. the DVD and Blu are identical other than the PAL speed up on the DVD. The transfer is good, didn't notice any problems and its about on par with Sony's US release of the second film.

It also does have English subtitles, despite the packaging saying that only German subs are included.

I got my copy as a freebie at AVForums, I quite like the media book myself.
I’ve been looking forward to the grandchildren visiting so I could watch it, well I wanted to watch it weeks ago but the wife put her foot down and said no
First saw it in the cinema when I was 9 and saw it quite a few times thereafter on vhs, had the DVD when my two were little and haven’t seen it in many many years so am quite looking forward to watching it again.
Well todays the day and the grandchildren are here for the day so with a little nudge from Grandad they insisted we must watch it

It sounds like MGM's elements starting with the initial DVD release are based on the pre-release/Canadian version which lacks the Samuel Goldwyn logo and has different ending credits. Those old VHS's appear to use a US release print as its got cue markers and splice pops in parts of the audio.
